All I have are replays. But I was wondering...was Cody's salami catchable? It looked like it just barely crept over the wall, and if Soto could've jumped a tiny bit higher, or be a tiny bit taller, or timed his attempt better, the ball could have been caught.
I really couldn't tell, watching it on my phone. Nobody said anything in the comments last night, so I'm thinking, nahhh.
Catchable or no?
Thanks.
Just watched it again, and it looks like the HR was a porch job, for sure, but not a porch scraper. Soto had no chance.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Steve.
ReplyDeleteTorii Hunter, scaling the wall, could have gotten a glove on it. Maybe Al Loplow. And of course, that guy named Judge.
ReplyDeleteonly Dave Winfield at full sprint and then spiking the wall to climb to a leaping full extension could have got that. (we don't talk about Winfield much around here, probably because he never won the series, but he was almost as compelling a must-watch as Judge. He ripped the cover off the wall pads more than a few times making that move.)
DeleteI think Judge is the only maybe. But it barely was a HR. Praise Jesus and Mary.
DeleteI didn't get a great look at it, but I thought it was way too high for anyone to catch. Would've needed a ladder.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think it was realistically catchable. It would’ve taken a Lambeau leap into the stands by Soto, and I don’t think Soto was that anxious to get up close and personal with the fans in RF. Also, as we saw last year, Soto is a very mediocre fielder, at best.
