If there's anybody with the stomach to watch the Cash conference all the way through, two bits are worthwhile. 1) Cash's oblique comparison of Volpe to Baker Mayfield...he half smiled while saying it. Knows it's horseshit and he's teasing us, 2) he got himself in a tangle talking about a "championship winning gene". Started squirming real quick. He definitely wants that one back. Pretty funny. Couldn't happen to more mediocre guy.
* Rodon had surgery to remove “loose bodies” in his elbow & will be back in May. * Judge won’t need surgery on his arm. * Cole could be available around the All Star Game, & Schmitt late in the season.
Translation: * Rodon’s “loose bodies” were actually the remains of Jimmy Hoffa; he’ll get injured 3 different times during rehab & be out for the season. * Judge WILL need surgery on his arm. * Cole will be out until 2027. Schmitt will be out until 2028.
Seriously as a fromer NYC High School Baseball coach for over 20 years. Volpe is swinging up to hit homeruns. This is what the Yankees and their analytics dictate. Notice that Volpe outs are alot of fly balls that go deep but die. In addition, and I forget who said it, Volpe should not be swining like Judge or Stanton.
Not quite 39 year old Pete Alexander (fighting through a vicious hangover by some accounts) emerging from the bullpen in game 7 of the 1926 series, with his Cards clinging to a 3-2 lead, and pitching 2 1/3 scoreless, no hit ball against Muderers' Row, but good to see.
