Hopefully young Cam will be more on his game today, 'cause MR BOONE WILL BE WATCHING !

  1. At the risk of crowding in on el duque's patch, the Martian has landed in Syracuse. In left, leading off for Scranton today. He looked at fastball, then looked at a cutter, and finally looked at a curveball for strike 3 before trudging back to the dugout.

  2. Couple of foul balls, this time from the right side, in his second AB. Watched strike 3 again.

  3. He's just in there to observe, Publius.

Looks like a short delay here while they dither about taking the tarp off after that short-lived downpour. Or is the radar showing a blizzard headed for Antarctica that might swerve our way?

  4. Grisham batting cleanup. LMGDFAO.

    1. 5th, mea culpa…I’m still laughing my god damn fucking ass off.

  5. Answer me this:

Why isn’t Jones in the lineup?

    Asking for my gynecologist….

  6. Nobody's doing nothin' so far.

  7. And a hit! An entire hit! Texas Leaguer by Goldschmidt. Hey, we'll take it!

  8. Foolish to put the brakes on Goldschmidt. The Hitless Wonders who are now the Yankees have to play more aggressively than that. They're waiting for Volpe to come through? Uh, yah.

  9. Volpe 3-23 going into this at-bat.

  10. Paul O'Neill wondering if Volpe would be greenly on 3-0. Hahahahahahaha.

  11. And...a weak flyout. Have I mentioned how happy I will be when we no longer have to look upon Mr. Volpe on a ballfield?

  12. This team has an eight game wild card lead in the loss column and given this ugly mess, they might not make the playoffs

  13. Well, nice play by Volpe in the field. And glad to see Schlittler looks good, if a little off.

  14. Schlit was throwing too many balls that weren't close and had trouble getting guys out last inning. At least they got a run now. But he needs to get it together here.

  15. What a shit relay throw. Volpe.

  16. Horrible throw by VolpeE6. They had him by a mile at the plate.

  17. He fails exactly when they need him not to.

  18. Schlit was not great. Well, he was pretty great for four, but that's not enough.
Volpe doesn't hit, again. Nice double by Grisham.

  19. Face it, Volpe isn’t the answer; far from it.

  20. Jazz strikes out for the third time.

    1. Yeah, this time Jizz swung at a ball at his eyes. Doesn't that fucker ever just try to meet the ball and hit it up the middle or to the opposite field?

  21. Yeah, I was wrong, Jones wasn't in the game—just came in now, to strike out.

It was Bellinger in left...and don't forget his contribution in letting a ball that should have been caught land at the base of the wall. Crucial game, tie game, fast runner on, two out, a flyball from the other team's power hitter should NEVER hit the base of the wall...

    1. The runner was still dead at home except, you know, Volpe.

I'm not sure that ball was catchable without a fairly high risk of a disaster if he missed it. Not an easy play, but maybe he did misjudge it a bit, and that's why. I can't blame him for the run so much since the runner would have been out with any kind of decent relay.

  22. And then, yes: awful relay throw from Volpe. Awful play by Jazz letting the ball get stuck in his glove on what should have been a routine groundout.

Some nice relief pitching, at least, to get out of that. But this Yankees team plays nothing like the sort of tough, savvy, fundamentals-strong baseball necessary to win without its best hitter.

  23. Grisham having a good game.

  24. Let me get this straight: A Yankee player stole 2nd base. Then the next guy singled him in to give the team a 2-1 lead.

    Mirage?

    1. 3-1. Bellinger HR made it 2-1.

      Another stolen base.

  26. SCHLIT’z mechanics are still off.

He’s opening up too much on his delivery. One hopes M. Blake’s AI would observe this and advise an approach towards achieving an adjustment.
