this must be one of those bad jokes by the baseball gods. last start, cam schlittler had a 4-0 lead and the yankees pissed it away. tonite, 6-0 deficit by cam, and the cards are trying to piss it away
they should send civilli back to the minors. he was bad against the cubbies too, although he didn't give up any runs. not throwing strikes. too bad ben grable is gone
It's being reported that the Yankees have called up George Lombard Jr. Volpe, Dominguez, Civilli are all going back down to the minors. So the Lombard era has begun.
Cashman has restocked the RailRiders, who are positioned for another second half pennant push. Schuemann, the Martian and Volpe? Very good additions, even if they lost Lombard.
Cashman is a first ballot HoFer. In the International League. Probably the best AAA GM in history. No exaggeration.
For twenty years, since the team moved to Scranton, it's been a juggernaut. In contention just about every year. A bunch of playoff appearances, two Governors' Cups and one AAA national championship. All things considered, and allowing for the vagaries of minor league baseball, it's been a fabulous run. Which looks set to continue this year (they just won 6 straight in Iowa and are in first place). Cashman's finest accomplishment.
