  6. 14. Boone is in the final year of his contract and all Hal has to do is suffer through another season 3,000,000+ attendance, 90+wins, and the wild card (if no lockout) and he can move on without ever having to fire him.

Because, as he says to himself every morning, while looking in the mirror... " I AM NOT MY FATHER!!!!!!'

    15) If there is a lock out - Why hire someone to change the culture who won't even have access to the players until just before sixty games would have been played? Sixty games is the magic number that has an effect on the TV money. Boone knows the players for the most part and the 2027 will be an aberration.

    So why bother?

    16) Hal doesn't care. Plus, his true focus is on selling as many pieces of the team as he can get away with.

  7. OT: Brunson reverted back to playing hero ball yesterday and the Knicks had zero flow.

That said, it doesn't matter right now but the Sixers looked scary.

There is a great series of photos on the Daily News site of the rings.

The top comes off and there's a little version of the court and stands from MSG in the there complete with a little Spike Lee. Never mind that. It was dust on my screen. But the little MSG is there. Very cool.

The photos are worth looking at.

  10. Hal said,, " It's the players' fault." I think it is the fault of the fans. If you support mediocrity, you perpetuate mediocrity.

    1. Aaron Hicks' seven-year, $70 million contract extension with the New York Yankees is officially completely off the books. After being released in May 2023, the Yankees finished paying the remaining salary and settled the final $1 million buyout for his 2026 club option, ending all dead money obligations

    3. Butt he’s not and will never be.

Hey Rufus — when you get a chance….would you be kind enough to attach some jumper cables to HAL’S testicles and rev the engine for a bit?

      Thank you for your cooperation.

  16. I hope to see a whole lot of articles after signing Cashman and then Steinbrenner sits there blaming players - not roster construction - for why we haven’t raised a banner in 17 years. Oh, the agony. He’s thanking Apollo for the cash so his grandkids don’t have to think. I’m so done with sports loyalty. These fat cats running teams we expect will try. I hope the press tells him how the fans really feel.

  17. The only winning that matters is the big piles of money Hal and the boys are making off the rubes they call 'fans'.

But as the piles of money from investors grow higher than the money they get from fans, corporate box seats, media revenue, advertising, swag. etc. winning and losing a ball game or a season ceases to matter at all.

    Just the pretense.

  18. And the press is largely delighted by Hal bringing back Cashman. Sigh.

  19. MLB went from being a sport that entertained to pure entertainment, based on a sport.

  20. But isn't pure entertainment supposed to be...entertaining?
