But the guy who put that offense together is blameless, and the guy who chose which individuals would make up the offense day to day is also blameless, including the order in which the players hit and where they played defense.
The pitchers, who did great in comparison, did so because they pay close attention to analytics, which some of the offense does not. Tsk, tsk.
Why so many injuries? It's a mystery. Why is the defense so lousy? Also a mystery. Why are a bunch of amateurs (that would be us) better at identifying who to sign and who not to sign, and who to trade and who not to trade (and when), and who to play and who not to play? It's yet another mystery, perhaps the biggest one of all.
Why are Cashman and Boone blameless for all of the horrible decisions they've made? Well, because Hal doesn't think they've made horrible decisions. They're just peachy. A rather mysterious conclusion.
In further news, the Giants' new head coach had this to say about the QB situation:
“It gives us the best chance to play the best offense we can,” Harbaugh said of starting McCarthy. “I thought Jameis has done a tremendous job, won us games, played well. We think (playing McCarthy) gives us some good options on offense.”
Why would you replace a guy who has done a tremendous job, won games for the team, and played well? It's a mystery.
As George Carlin once said, if God is all-powerful, can he make a rock that's too big for Him to lift?
It's a mystery.

PERFECTLY put, JM.
ReplyDeleteImagine if you tried this in any other business.
"The problem is our personnel: they performed much worse than we thought they would, and frequently seemed unengaged and uninterested. But of course we're bringing back our head of personnel and our office manager! Why would we not?"
JM - The Yankees continuance of stupidity aside...
ReplyDeleteI totally understand what the Giants are trying to do. The coach is trying to install and draft for and create a certain kind of offense. Winston, a fine back up can not implement it.
JJ is like Dart light and can. It's not about the QB its about the team. Which linemen can do it right which have to go. Etc.
Winston was back at QB 2 the second they traded a precious fifth rounder for JJ.
It's not about who is better. They are both flawed. Or even about wins. Both guys will win and lose. It's about who can take them closer to where they are trying to go as an offense. And that's JJ..
I get that, Doug. I'm just having fun with what he actually said verbatim...which was really different than that!
DeleteGood point.
ReplyDeleteTo any human with a sense of logic and causality, what you say is exactly true. So Hal's rhetoric shows the disdain billionaires have for the brainpower of non billionaires. NO respect at all. He has to think we are the must gullible humans on earth. And he might be right about the media who attended his event, as no one ( I gather ) brought up these relationships and responsibilities. There is no jumping from Hal to Brian to Boone without pausing to ask, " who brought us these players?" They didn't simply appear one day when the sun came out. Hal's dialog is pathetic and denigrating. He is a total asshole ( arsehole in Britain). Boones post game rants next season will be a labor of agony. I now see why institutions fail.
ReplyDeleteI hate them all so very very much.
