The lockout! War! Coastal flooding! Robot uprising! With everything going to Hell, should the '27 Yanks consider tanking?

Ten reasons why the '27 Yankees and their fans should phone it in.

1. The owner's been phoning it in for years.

2. The ownership lockout will ruin 2027 anyway.

3. Under Aaron Boone, the Yankees already tank each June.

4. Tampa regularly tanks; it works for them.

5. The Brewers, Rangers, Astros, Nats, Redsocks, Royals and Cubs all have recent world championships; at various points, they tanked.

6. Tanking would be easy; not even Cashman could mess it up.

7. Keep Rice, Schlittler, Jones and Lombard- trade everybody else - and poof! Soon, it's 2028.

8. One of these days, as impossible as it seems, the Mets will rise from constant tanking.

9. With our new draft picks and international spending money, we can load up with Dax Kilbys and Martians.

10. The 2027 winter is already lost, as NYC follows the Giants' march to the Super Bowl.

A good idea. It'll never happen, of course, mostly because it would involve trying to trade big contracts and paying the salary of guys who are playing somewhere else. We can't even bench guys who are making good money, so trading them? Yeah, I dunno.

But I do like it. This team looks and acts tired. Too many guys who have tried too hard in too many non-ring seasons. The failure is now a part of them. They don't know how to win the big games. It's almost like they subconsciously fuck up to make sure the season ends early.

  3. Don't think The Intern could screw up tanking?

    Think again

    1. That was my thought, as well. Think of the headlines: “an unlikely season“ they would make him GM for life

  4. Inside sourcs say the brain is exploring filling the 3B void by trading for Manny Machado. Sources say Rice and Lombard have been offered in a package deal.

    Also from the interwebs:

"The Padres still owe Manny Machado $223 million. This year, Machado had a lower batting average than Pete Gray did in 1945, despite Gray having only one arm..."

    Perfect Ca$hole acquisition.
