To let a columnist poor-mouth on behalf of the Steinbrenner twins - that's borderline Bond supervillain stuff."
What is the real stuff of Bond supervilian is that we FANS are the ones paying for it in the $20 price for a bleacher seat, $40 for a decent upper deck seat, $9.75 for a friggin' Budwieser. Call it what it is, the A-Rod surcharge.
But please don't imply it is the team or the two headed Steinbrenner monster which will pay. In the end, the fans will pay in higher prices and we are fed up.
Take a look at attendance. They can't give away seats, no matter how many ticket Tuesdays WCBS 880 runs.
I sat through games 1&2 of the ALDS and CS last year and we cheered ARod like he was the second coming of Babe Ruth, we screamed for singles like they were home runs, just to make sure that Arod ego would be massaged enough so he didn't boo hoo hoo to the papers about the meanies in the stands.
As a fan and partial season ticketholder, I've tried, really hard, like Samuel L. Jackson talking to Ringo in Pulp Fiction, tried to give ARod the benefit of the doubt over the years. We all have. We're done. As far as I see it. Madden is reflecting the frustration that we, the fans who pay to go to the game have been experiencing watching this guy "play".
This isn't a case of tearing down a great like Seaver, it's legitimate criticism of a chronic under performer. And if you mention 2009, I'd reply A Rod owed that.....and more.
We're donePO'ed in section 203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3932285159851204335.post-71796002839645967812013-07-11T19:00:54.807-04:002013-07-11T19:00:54.807-04:00call me a conspiracy nut but could the Steinspawn ...call me a conspiracy nut but could the Steinspawn be paying for all this? (Although one of my favorite movie jokes of all time is when Charles Grodin and Dyan Cannon are plotting Warren Beatty's demise in 'Heaven Can Wait,' and Grodin says, 'Quick, he's coming....pick up The Fountainhead and pretend you're reading.' Cracks me up every time.) While I quickly grew tired of her hardass, bullshit, insane ramblings, there is something here of the need to tear down the great and uplift the mediocre. And nobody is more mediocre than Selig and practically all of the owners.

Hypocrites and bastards, one and all.

JMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09876016557456927299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3932285159851204335.post-42937186670876682892013-07-11T16:28:01.168-04:002013-07-11T16:28:01.168-04:00Well said, Duque.Well said, Duque.Stanghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17758839786688249648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3932285159851204335.post-27857021737067700352013-07-11T13:11:42.062-04:002013-07-11T13:11:42.062-04:00Maybe David Adams, then, will have a shot at the H...Maybe David Adams, then, will have a shot at the Hall Of Fame.

If there are no stars left to go in......

Don't rule it out.Alphonsohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03294726065596642068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3932285159851204335.post-59601652572669316002013-07-11T11:29:43.982-04:002013-07-11T11:29:43.982-04:00I am moved to laud this piece. I don't know whether it is because this analysis gives voice to my sentiments about Bill Madden, or expresses so much more eloquently than I could my views regarding the hypocrisy of Selig and the Yankees, but it is just brilliant. This editorial opinion, if I can call it that, is the reason the first site I turn to every day is "It is High.." I have been a lawyer and attorney in Connecticut for 34 years, and you have reduced me to a mere fanboy. Please don't ever stop writing. Laud, laudy, laud!Roger B. It's amazing how many stones he's willing to throw when he thinks people can't reach his glass house.Parson Tomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09312179928176617912noreply@blogger.com
