It's happening.
Our long-anticipated Yankee existential crisis is here.
Sorry, folks, but it's time for sandbags, headlamps and Dinty Moore. Here are 10 signs that, at least for Yank fans, the end is near.
1. The Dodgers may bench Shohei Ohtani.
2. In the playoffs, no less.
3. Trump came to Syracuse and was snubbed by Ryan McMahon (the GOP Onondaga County Executive, not the 3B.)
4. In Syracuse, Trump called out Yankee president Randy Levine.
5. Of our loss to Tampa, Trump said, "He's won so much, it's not going to matter."
6. The Giants lead the NFC East.
7. They achieved this by playing miserable Washington to an overtime tie.
8. The Yankees next 2B could be Gleyber Torres.
9. Giancarlo's eternity contract is entering its final year.
10. Suddenly, the Rays can't catch foul pops?
I say, let it happen. At least for the next five months, we don't have to think about Michael Kay stirring tea with his glasses.

ReplyDelete…..Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying.
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I’ve got that feeling once again
I can’t explain, you would not understand….
Heading for the overload
ReplyDeleteSplattered on the dirty road
Kick me like you've kicked before
I can't even feel the pain no more

ReplyDeleteI didn't read the article yet, but I know the answer is ab so fukkin lootly.
DeleteBrew Crew won again last night. Hell, the last two nights watching the Brew Crew beat the Dodgers was BETTER THAN SEX!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd have the fucking Tampons finally found their Kryptonite in the Guardians? We shall see, we shall see....

Go Milwaukee Brewers.
ReplyDeletePiss on Bud Selig's grave. Shit on it, too.
You omitted vomit.

DeleteDid ya'll catch Monday Night Football? Wow, wild and woolly game. No defense anywhere in sight. Most experts predicted the LA Rams would win. I knew better. Thought the officiating was definitely tilted toward the Rams. Home field advantage, maybe? Gambling establishment pressure, maybe? Buffalo pulled it out in a see-saw affair. Was lookin' like the last team with the ball would win. And that's what happened in O.T. Finally, some unlikely defense in O.T.: Buffalo with a partially blocked field goal that sputtered short of the goal posts, a dying quail! With hottie wife Haylee Steinfeld cheerin' him on, Josh Allen drives for a field goal to win it. I don't know if that last play was such a great decision: you have the ball barely in field goal range and it's 1st and 10, plenty of time still left, and you go for the field goal already? Fortunately for Buffalo, their kicker nailed it and it was ovuh!
ReplyDeleteObviously, Buffalo saw the Skattebo fumble on the Washington 22 in OT.
DeleteYeah, and if Buffalo's stupid RB hadn't fumbled the ball two or three times, it wouldn't have even gone to OT.
DeleteThey see a guy prone to fumbling, and they don't even try to tackle anymore. All they do is try to punch the ball out from his grasp. And it works, a lot!
DeleteHailee Steinfeld in the Cohn Brothers' "True Grit" was fucking hot! Too bad Josh Allen got to her before me! Does she have a sister?

ReplyDeleteI watched the last two minutes and the overtime. Two great clutch quarterbacks being clutch.
ReplyDeleteThis punch the ball out is something that is going to have to be dealt with..
Maybe by rule. If you punch the hand that holds the ball as hard as you can and you are as powerful as these guys are the hand either opens or "breaks" .
It shouldn't be legal to wind up and do that.
Aside from the fumbles themselves, which are not deserved, eventually it's going to damage the RB's hands. Maybe even end careers.
The rule should be grab the ball and pull. Or with the helmet because getting that kind of a shot is less frequent. Anyone in a scrum can get off a punch.
As to the Bills kicking to 45 yd field goal and not screwing around. The game in Washington had high winds, rain, and a wet field. The one in LA is ;ike kicking in the lobby of a luxury hotel. It was easier to kick because 45plus was makeable.
The Giants were trying to shorten the field due to the weather and the kickers difficulty with it. (on that day)
Yeah, they wuz makin' 50 yard field goals like they wuz chip shots!
ReplyDeleteI agree, this punching the ball stuff. Somebody's going to get hurt. Rule should be you can't make a fist. You can slap the ball out but punching it out shouldn't be allowed. The down side is that there'll be a replay review after every fumble to see if it was punched or slapped. The officials are going to have a hard time seeing it in real time, I would think.
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be a rule to protect RBs because, the reality is, if you wind up and punch the hand that holds the ball and are as powerful as these guys are, the hand either opens or "breaks".
ReplyDeleteIt shouldn't be legal to wind up and do that.

The rule should be grab the ball and pull. It should be OK to dislodge with the helmet because getting that kind of a shot is less frequent. Anyone in a scrum can get off a punch.
Other positions have special rules that protect them.
As to the replay... I'm pretty sure they automatically review fumbles anyway. Was he down before he fumbled kind of stuff.
Cleveland vs. the DEVILS: 14 hits in 1 game.
ReplyDeleteCa$hole's ANALytical 3 outcome wonders: 12 hits TOTAL in 3 games.
Yes, Rufus T., we know. The Yankees front office sucks. Fuck them all.
ReplyDeleteI posed a question yesterday. What happened to the likes of Joe Ballela, Whitey Fraud and the Joe De Pastry? And so many others too?
Fuck HAL and CashBrain and the Idiot.
Agreed on the "punching the ball out" nonsense! One replay showed the same player trying to do that, again, in the scrum...and instead bunching the running back in the head.
ReplyDeleteNo penalty, of course, because the refs couldn't see it in the pile-up.
Ban the punch, make teams able to appeal if they think it went down—and throw the offender out of the game.
It would stop immediately.
But aside from that...great game! More thrills in every minute than the entire Yankees ALDS.
I need to shout for a minute...apologies up front..
ReplyDeleteHOW THE FUCK THE GUARDIANS WERE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT RASMUSSEN? IF THEY CAN FUCKING FIGURE IT OUT WHY DIDN'T OUR COACHING STAFF OR THE ANALITICS DEPARTMENT FIGURE IT OUT? EVERY YEAR WE CAN'T FIGURE OUT SHIT.
I feel better now thanks...
Our coaching is the worst in baseball. And it ain't even close. The only reason the Yankees played as well as they did this year was because they have plenty of talent here. Well, some guys suck, like Grisham. But our starting pitching certainly had big time talent. I'm not sold on Matt Blake as the pitching coach. I think he's gotten better, but he still sucks compared to other coaching staffs.
DeleteI agree Ranger. I could not agree more completely.
ReplyDeleteOur batting coaches suck. Our hitting philosophy fucking sucks.
ReplyDeleteThey say you can't get three or four hits in one inning, right? Looks like they forgot to tell that to the Brewers.
Brew Crew are going to have a 24 run explosion in one of these playoff games. I'm glad the Yankees are out of it. If the Yankees made it to the World Series this year, I"m tellin' ya, it would've been infinitely worse than the 2024 humiliation.
You know, whoever says that we need to swing harder and with more uppercut in order to make that one hit per game a home run, that guy needs to be taken out and shot. Isn't that a corollary to the apocalyptic old saying "swing as hard as you can, just in case you hit it"? Somebody forgot to tell the Yankee analytics department that it was a joke, a fucking joke, not practical hitting advice.
ReplyDeleteWhen you get one fucking hit per game, you are FUCKED. You got no fucking chance whatsoever, unless your pitchers are hurling no hitters.
ReplyDeleteMill-Walk-Key Brewers are doing it right. They barrel up the ball, don't try to do too much, hit it the other way, hit through holes, get hits on bloopers, beat out bleeders. They move the base runners by hitting it to the right spots. Their slogan is "do it our way". There's nothing special about their way. That's the irony. It's just good fundamental baseball. It's everything the Yankees are not.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we're being too hard on the Yankee coaching. After all, if suckers like Trent Grisham and Ryan McMahon and crazies like Jazz Chisholm play every day, how can they hit playoff pitching? So it all goes back to the suckers in charge, like Boone & Cashman.
