He stabilizes the infield, has a good lefty bat who understands the situation, and he looks as though baseball is a great way to make a living. Voit has had surgeries which likely become scar-tissue nightmares. Plus he's got the range of a Cliff Johnson. We should trade him and run. Maybe a package with Torres. Yeah, that's the ticket.Kevinnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3932285159851204335.post-36579908083861475182021-09-06T01:12:39.715-04:002021-09-06T01:12:39.715-04:00Torres and his piss-poor game is back. I pray that...Torres and his piss-poor game is back. I pray that we can find a sucker for him after the season. I can't recall a Yankee team whose reality is so far removed from it's reputation. This roster on paper is pretty damned good, even the starting pitching held some hope. That being said, as maddening the offense and defense has played, most/all of us has known from the beginning what was in store. Once again ownership tried to skimp on starting pitching. The same story which we've seen (2009 being the exception) for the past twenty years. Blame this totally on Hal.Based on the stats #1-2 pitching is rich in price, but a brutal game of risk. And a point that must be restated, the organization, perhaps because of a Faustian bargain can't draft and develop starters. I'm no longer sure that we can develop ANY pitching. Yeah, we find some pitchers who seem as though the organization has woven a silk purse from a show's ear. But this may be a delusion, we rarely get more than a year and a half before something explodes. I have to wonder if this is mere coincidence. IMHO, until the perfect storm of minor league pitching and up the middle talent hit the beaches together (and no small fan revolt) we are doomed to watch variations of this season. For some years. I hope that Judge is part of it. Something tells me that Hal will miss out by "this much" when Judge becomes a free agent. Have we become the California Angels, having a few marquee players to keep the casual fans in eternal optimism? I'm not trying to denigrate the Angels, ownership has sure as hell poured the money out... Well, this team is no hobby for old men.Kevinnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3932285159851204335.post-38238013673951240982021-09-06T00:43:24.981-04:002021-09-06T00:43:24.981-04:00...And speaking of which, the Voit/Rizzo competiti......And speaking of which, the Voit/Rizzo competition is why the Yanks are so done for years to come now.

This is their choice at first now:

Re-sign Rizzo? But here is what I don't understand: Heaney might be the worst pitcher on the team and 2 of the first 3 batters and 3 of 5 batters in the O's lineup were right-handed. So why bring in Heaney to face them when trying to protect the lead. Why not bring in Abreu or Green at that point? Seriously, I'll never figure out why Boone manages the pen like he does and why he's so clueless about percentages and odds. And this from an organization that claims to rely so heavily on analytics.

I wish Boone, Cashman and Hal could all be wished into the cornfield.
