But the Yankees' response is unforgivable.

I hope A Rod gets a standing ovation when he gets back to the Stadium -- and that the fans start an appropriate chant about their feelings for the Steinbrenners.ceejanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3932285159851204335.post-61301773504469521052015-05-04T13:31:08.328-04:002015-05-04T13:31:08.328-04:00No announcement, no message on the center field fl...
No announcement, no message on the center field flat screen. Nothing.

I'll admit that I didn't think of these until just now, but the Red Sox actually missed a few prime opportunities to stick it up the collective nose of A-Rod, Yankees Yankees Management, and Yankees Fans:

∙ A-Rod ==> They could have written a big "660" on the scoreboard using asterisks to make the numbers. Or, more subtly, they could have written a big "660" in a field of swirling asterisks. They would have acknowledged the milestone and given their fans a big laugh (i.e., the 3 of them who might have figured it out).

∙ Yankees Management ==> The Red Sox could have written "660", included A Rod's picture, and then the $6 Million Man" underneath the photo. This would have stuck it to Yankees management *and* would have contributed to the sentiment, belief, and pressure that the Yankes should pay the man his bonus. I actually can't believe they didn't think of this. Aren't the Sox better off if the Yanks have $6-9 million less to spend on things like payroll? The Sox blew it.

∙ Yankees Fans ==> They could have put up a sign on the Fenway scoreboard with something like "Congratulations to Alex Rodriguez and all the Yankee Fans who Believe!" It would have been an epic poke in the Yankiverse nose.

Let's keep thoughts like these in mind for Big Floppy's Farewell Tour...Local Bargain Jerkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11777702960645118146noreply@blogger.com
