Cries from Alphonso

1. I heard an interview with Russ Olendorf after his playoff debut last night, and it was enlightening. Russ was quick to acknowledge that he had no command of his pitches and was reduced to throwing 92 mile an hour fastballs over the middle of the plate. To fool the hitters, he tried to place his pitches a few inches above belt -high.

" I don't think I pitched very well," said Russ. " I hope I get another chance."

You will, methinks. Next Year in Scranton.

2. I went to the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame last night, once it was 7-2 Cleveland ( or some such ), and the background song when I walked in was, " Turn out the lights. The party's over...." ). The museum's background musicologist was listening to the game on radio.

3. Chin Ming Wing is really not an ace. He is more like a Jack.

4. Andy Pettitte, our hero for 4 World Championships, today has the capacity to pull a Glavine.

5. I am taking Edwar Ramirez, David Wright, and Tyler Clippard to Alaska fishing. We leave Sunday night.

6. Is it fair to say that Yankees burned themselves out recovering from a disastrous start of the season to just make the playoffs?

7. Was that last win against the Orioles our " game 7?"

8. Clemens is going to turn 26 on Sunday?
