Too Dumb to Bookmark: Redsocks lead us in Google Searches

This, from Google Trends, would seem to be a chart of Hank Steinbrenner's pulse rate while watching an episode of "Gilmore Girls."

It's not.

It shows the number of worldwide daily Google searches for the words "Yankees" and "Red Sox."

We're in blue, they're in red.

It shows the Redsocks leaping ahead in mid-April and still maintaining -- ahh, hard to say, but I'd give them a two-game lead -- but, hell, it's only May.




The Gammonites would claim this a sign of their superior popularity.

Fine. Whatever.

But think about what these numbers show.

After the season began, searches for "Yankees" plummeted, while searches for "Red Sox" rose and then hit a plateau.

What happened?

Yankee fans found their sites and bookmarked them. (LIKE YOU DID THIS ONE, RIGHT?) They saw no reason to continually search for "Yankees."

Redsock fans went back to Google and searched again. Duh. Aw, but they do chant "Yankees suck." Does Google measure that?
