'Totally Benign Rock 'n Roll' or 'We're a Nation of Creampuffs'

Wow, baseball goes totally original to celebrate the All-Star Game weekend by booking 1980's recording legends Bon Jovi to perform in Central Park.

Nice to know senior citizens still cast their All-Star ballots, we just didn't realize people could vote on the entertainment.

No, we're just kidding. You can't vote on the entertainment. That decision is made by a team of lawyers who answer the question: "If we were to stage a concert and needed a rock band to perform, which one exposes us to the least liability or risk of offending anybody?"

Any band that poses no risk can't be a rock band, right? Have we grown totally sterile? Are we a nation so scared and timid that we seek out stuffed teddy bears to perform rock songs? Johnny Rotten would blow a wad of snot at us and sneer. We're pathetic.

The poetic justice in all this (or, the punch line that provides a hint of evidence that God has a sense of humor)? Bon Jovi is touring with "All-American Rejects".

We ain't goin'.

  1. Let's all breathe a sigh of relief that the Captain and Tennille broke up.
