Guy Who Threw Back Opener Grand Slam Replaces Whitson Driveway Vandal as All-Time Greatest Unknown Yankee Fan

New York _ The anonymous fan who threw Grady Sizemore's grand slam home run ball back onto the field at Thursday's first game in the new stadium has been named the all-time greatest Yankee unknown fan by IIHIIFIIc officials.

The anonymous fan, whose name is unknown, is not believed to be related to Anonymous, a frequent commentator on this blog.

The new all-time greatest Yankee fan replaces the anonymous fan (or fans) who left tacks on Ed Whitson's driveway, following the debacle that was his New York career.

Other great anonymous fans include the guy who got decked by Chris Chambliss at home plate after his walk-off home run won the 1975 pennant and the guy who threw the C-cell battery at Jim Rice.

Great as they were, though, none could match up with the guy who threw back Sizemore's game-ruining grand slam. The Hall of Fame at Cooperstown confiscated the ball, which probably could have paid for a year's worth of brewskies.

The immortal unknown fan will never be forgotten on this blog.

Here's to you, Anonymous.

  3. Wouldnt have even paid for his ticket and meal for the day. Its chump change to the classy kinda folk who get tickets to the stadium.

You can bet Im not related to a stately gentleman such as that.

  4. That happens with every visiting home run at Wrigley Field. Maybe they don't feel like they need a memento to take home for their $50 bleacher seat.
