Yanks relying on Big Game Burnett to keep the collapse alive

Winless in our last five games (but just four in the loss column) -- tonight we hand the Curse Cootie to former "big-game" pitcher AJ Burnett for the rubber match of the Subway Series, alias, the "Losers Bracket."

At stake is bragging rights to Michael Bloomberg's pool man, the increasingly doomed managerial career of Joe Girardi, and the willingness of millionaires to spend $500,000 to be linked to a team likely to break the MLB single-season record for meaningless home runs.

Think about it. In home runs, we'll be up there with the 1927 and 1961 Yankees.

As we fight for the Wild Card.

If Burnett loses tonight, we have a solid chance of keeping the Meltdown melting Monday, when Chien-Ming Wang -- the man of the rising sinker -- faces the mighty Washington Nats.

Yes. It'll be time for us to feast on another weak opponent.

Two weeks ago, it seems a lifetime, we set a record for consecutive errorless games.

Apparently, it was happenstance, a random sequence of games, now being corrected.
