They must have cut him open and counted seasonal rings.
From MLB: (Which stands for Men who Love Boys)
The Yankees' recent signing of a shortstop identified as Damian Arredondo from the Dominican Republic reportedly has been voided because the player is not who he says he is and is older than 16 years old.
What's this? The Man-Boy Love League actually signed a Latino who -- by U.S. standards -- is old enough to be considered an adult? HORROR! VOID THAT CONTRACT!
We only sign 16-year-olds -- (which, of course, means they're stabled by their local pimps by age 11.)
Folks, this is the most evil side of baseball -- it's even more devious than steriods, which are taken by grown men -- and one of these days, it's gotta end. Sadly, our $18 million Supreme Leader, Bud Selig, remains blinded by his hairpiece on this issue. Or else he doesn't care.
This is why so many screwed up players come from baseball plantations like the Dominican Republic. They get recruited at 9, horded at 12, judged at 14, signed at 16. Most are fodder by age 20, and what did they get to show for it?
Michael Jackson showed more compassion for his little boys than MLB.
In this country, we don't sign kids at 16. We're the ones writing the checks. Why don't we hold Latino countries to the same basic standards of humanity?
All we have to do is decide to do it. Just say... sorry, amigos. Not until 17. Not until 18. Not until a high school diploma. We will not accept age 16 as the defining criteria.
It's our decision to make. Why are we not even discusssing this?
Yankiverse... is anybody out there listening?
Kids mature earlier in other countries... look at this China-boy:

Uh, maybe because playing pro ball as soon as possible is in the best interests of these kids. What else are they going to be doing between ages 16 and 18? Gimme a break - -it's not like they're being sold into slave labor. They have an advantage over American kids in the sense that they are free to choose the team they prefer and their signing bonuses are not artificially restrained by the draft and MLB rules.
ReplyDeleteWhy, you're right, guys! In fact, let's start signing American boys at age 16! Why should the Latinos be getting all the free money!
ReplyDeleteYou want them dickering with your kid at 15, so he can sign on his birthday? Go for it.
