Winning Streak Dead, Celebrities Alive

To the Yankiverse:

As we suffered last night's brutal defeat, fans of our greatest celebrities were gathered around radios and television sets, waiting for news updates in their makeshift bunkers, pitched in tender reflection as they struggled to whisper their goodbyes into the ether of memory.

Yes, we lost a baseball game. But good viewers across the globe will not have to face this holiday weekend with yet another beloved star of stage and screen yanked from their emotional grasp and thrown into the watery canals of Eternity.

I have never more proud of this team.

Spake a poet, long ago: "Greater love hath no man than this, than he who lay down his life for his celebrities."

This holiday weekend, let the bells of Yankee victory sound across this great land... and let them toll only for our foes upon the battlefield.

Today, Walter Cronkite lives. And that's the way it is.

  1. Every celebrity dies not every celebrity plays part in a streak...

  2. True. And for some -- I'm not namin names here -- being part of the Yankee win streak was their pinacle of achievement.
