Wow, that was nice of Matt, letting his dad bat for him in the World Series!
Oh, and this summer I knew I was going to have a good vacation when I found Utica Club at a grocery story in N.C.'s Outer Banks. I was kind stunned. Saranac I expected, but the Utica Club shocked me.
UC has deep ties in North Carolina. You can get six packs of bottles in Durham from time to time. I am still weeping. I will hit Brikbeck's the next time I'm in Syracuse.
I moved from Corning, NY to Blacksburg, VA in 2005. I walked to my new grocery store, which had a walk-in beer fridge. I saw cans and bottles of Genny Cream Ale. It took about 4 minutes for my mouth to close. Then, I wept. Then I bought a 30 pack for the July 4th weekend.
Was only in VA for 6 months, but that helped soften the blow.

Is it a guy who calls himself Joe the Plumber who is neither named Joe nor a licensed plumber?
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm Bill White! Guess what I found? Utica Club! Guess where I found it? Brilbeck's!
ReplyDeletePlease put all questions in writing and leave them in a box on my front door. Thanks, Joe
ReplyDeleteDID YOU BUY UP THEIR ENTIRE STASH? DID YOU WEEP WITH JOY AT THE SIGHT OF THEM? CANS, I PRESUME? OR DO THEY CARRY THE BOTTLES?
ReplyDeleteCANS. BOUGHT MAYBE HALF THEIR STASH. STILL WEEPING.
ReplyDeleteDude looks like Jim Thome at 50 years old.
ReplyDeleteUC rocks, baby. Enjoy.

ReplyDeleteBreaking News from the Summer:
ReplyDeleteGenny Cream is back.
Genny Cream is the Michael Phelps of NY beers. Lots of gold medals.
ReplyDeleteUtica Club was one of my first "clients."
ReplyDeleteI got to know the entire Matt family and a few of their scandals.
Early tag line; " Utica Club...we drink all we can...the rest, we sell."
You're welcome.
I remember UC from childhood days in central NY. (My dad drank it because it cost 99 cents a six pack).
ReplyDeleteThe ad line then was "Nature's own beer, UC!"
Genessee probably cost a $1.19 a six pack. Company beer.
