Sterling is the voice of the Yankees, take it or leave. This guy may be terrible. This guy may not know what is going on at the moment. This guy may screw up call after call. This guy may call a start calling a homerun which ends up caught by the shortstop. But that's why we love him. He is knowledgeable and oblivious, he is outgoing and insane, but he is an amazing announcer.
Sterling is the best announcer in baseball and has coined my two favorite calls. "Yankees win. Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankees WIN!" and of course "it's an A-Bomb...from A-Rod!"
Why the hell are non-Yankee fans even listening to this stuff? Of course we love him! If you'd been listening to the same announcer for almost 20 yrs on the radio, it becomes a part of the team experience.
This guy's a douche. The team just won the World Series and he's making the moment all about his asinine calls. Total freaking egomaniac. Hey John, maybe the fans want to hear the roar of the crowd. Shut the hell up already!

What a disappointing warble. Length is one thing, but it's not the only thing. Where's the emotion? I can't hear it. Can you?
ReplyDeleteThe guy sounds like a moron. I am positive that only Yankee fans enjoy is moronic HR calls.
ReplyDeleteLove the Yankees or hate them, any sports fan would realize this guy is terrible.
ReplyDeletemaybe you Yankee-hating morons should find something else to cry about...Sterling is far better than anyone TBS or Fox could come up with.

ReplyDelete@anonymous - that's what she said!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorites of all time. Doesn't have the length, but the overall call and situation was one of the best Yankee moments!

ReplyDeleteBah, the guy should go back to Atlanta. He's the least exciting or inspiring announcer the Yankees have EVER had.
ReplyDeleteI love John Sterling, but he really needs to go to a vocal coach and learn how to breath...I realize he's 85 years old though
