Last night -- in a recreation of the 2006 World Series, when ARod overshadowed the game events by announcing that he was leaving the Yankees for six weeks -- the Academy Awards were sadly overwhelmed by the stunning new lineup of free-swinging heavy hitters for "Dancing with the Stars."
Just as Brian Cashman traveled the nation to sign CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett and Mark Teixeira -- the "Dancing" team has stopped at nothing to bring quality entertainment, including Kate Gosselin and Pamela Anderson. The salary cap must have soared well beyond $200 million.
Of course, it's a gamble. Will anyone really want to watch Pamela Anderson squeeze into some leather postage stamps and giggle herself in front of a partner, who could easily be knocked unconscious by rapidly moving 40-pound sacks of cheese?
Well, what's done is done. So why not go all the way!
Nothing would excite America more than some moves by John Sterling -- whose love of Broadway show tunes is second to no man's.
He can do the Cha-Cha. He can do the Tom Delay. He can do the Jerry Springer. If he can life Suzyn Waldman, he can twirl Pamela Anderson.
Imagine: The Sterling jiggle -- "Ballgame over, Yankees win -- THUUUUUUUH -- Yankees win" done close-up and personal.
JOHN STERLING FOR DANCING WITH THE STARS IN 2011!
LET THE BUZZ START HERE.
