OOOOOOOOOOOOOO-KEI!

Kei Igawa - gracious in defeat, after being edged out of the February Yankee Employee of the Month tribute - retired five Rays in a row Friday, striking out two.

The Yankees are finally letting him pitch out of the bullpen, where he actually might -- perish the thought -- help the team. It's the chance they gave Phil Coke, Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, Alfredo Aceves, Sergio Mitre and Chad Gaudin.

We are finally accepting reality for a guy we thought was Dice K, but who turned out to be Hideki Irabu. For three years, we banished him to Scranton, where he is now the all-time leader in wins.
Did Kei Igawa, when overlooked for February Yankee Employee of the Month, avoid the fabled IIH Curse -- and thus receive positive juju?

  1. That baseball card reads: Jacques Strap. Are you sure Kei autographed it?
