Circle The Warbles, Mr. Sterling Is Under Attack

I think we may have a lead on why John Sterling is mailing it in this season.

SI's Richard Deitsch, citing Tom Verducci, wrote that "Harwell had an understated elegance, which has become a 'lost art given the audacious trumped-up signature calls and desire to be noticed in broadcasting today.' (Here's looking at you, John Sterling)."

Will 2010 be Sterling's Last Stand?

  1. The uncomplimentary comparison must have really hurt him.
He's down, maybe contemplating retirement. He needs your cards and letters of support like never before. What happens if he goes before we do? What happens to this blog? What happens to us?

  2. I can't speak for anyone else, but if he goes I hope that we start a blog dedicated to Congressional ethics investigations.

  3. The sad thing (at least for those of us who look for something bordering on quality in sportscasting) is that John Sterling is probably only at best top-20 in the current U.S. Sportscasting Conference blowhard table.
