By sacking McChrystal, Obama is attempting to recreate Yankees 1978 miracle season

Good grief, it's obvious! Any student of history can see it. Why hasn't the lamestream media picked up on this?

 

In 1978, George Steinbrenner canned the fiery, hard-nosed Billy Martin after the runaway field general said: "They deserve each other. One's a born liar [Reggie Jackson], and the other's convicted [Steinbrenner]."

This year, Barack Obama fired the fiery, hard-nosed Stan McChrystal after the runaway Army general made snide comments about the White House and an aide said "Joe Bite-Me."

Both teams were floundering. Both managers were known as fierce competitors. Both bosses were spending too much money to accept defeat.

The Yankees turned to the beneign, steady Hall of Famer Bob Lemon, who came out of retirement to quiet down the clubhouse and restore order to the American League pennant race. That's exactly what Obama is hoping to do, by tapping Dave Petraeus, hoping the old general can put a steady hand on the till, rectify the U.S. bullpen and snuff out Taliban rallies so that we can fly a pennant flag over Kandahar.

The 1978 Yankees made a miracle comeback en route to winning the pennant in the Bucky Dent playoff game and then beating the Dodgers in the World Series. That's a tall order for Petraeus.
