This is only one person’s list, but based on my own feelings and what I’ve heard from fellow non-Yankees fans I would say the five Yankees players that non-Yankees fans still like are (in this order):
1. Mariano Rivera
2. Don Mattingly
3. Lou Gehrig
4. Mickey Mantle
5. Elston Howard
He gets heavily into the issue of Most Important Yankee Since 1996: Mo v. Captain.
