Yankiverse awaits word on Berk paw

Millions of Yankee fans tonight are hitting the streets with candles and dewey-eyed tykes, as they anxiously await the autopsy diagnosis of the tender ankle of pinstriped icon Lance Berkman, beloved captain of the team's designated hitter corps.

He hurt himself running out a grounder today.

If Berkman goes down to injury, team mentalist Brian Cashman will face a DH rotation reduced to three -- Jorge Posada, Marcus Thames and Austin Kearns.

This reporter can only say what the masses are feeling tonight:

"God speed Berky's foot."

  1. Will he re-hab in that florida pool with Nick Johnson?
