Apropos of nothing, on the MLB Network broadcast of Game 7 of the 1960 WS, Joe DePastry just came in to replace the injured Tony Kubek for the Bombers.
I didn't get to watch it last night, but I always thought Ralph Terry got a bad rap as the goat for giving up the homer to Maz. I've always blamed Jim Coates for the loss. As I remember it, Coates failed to cover first on Clemente's grounder to Skowron for what would have been the 3d out in the 8th, when we led 7-5. A run scored on that play. Then Smith hit the 3-run homer off Coates that put us behind 9-7.
