Is This Really Happening?

This year's Yankees have a lot of luck. All of it bad.

Now the top, young closer at AA ( who may have moved up to AAA a few days ago ), Tim Horton ( I'm guessing, but the name is close ), has been shut down with what the Yankees describe as, " a serious shoulder injury."

That means the knife of the surgeon beckons, and his prospects, if not career, go into the "in doubt" category.

So maybe Cashman is right to sign every pitcher, of any age, who shows up in the "available for hire" garbage can.

But the worst of it is: we are running out of young prospects to move to the Bronx for a look ( knowing that Banuelos and Bettances are not to be given a shot. We must protect them like we protected Joba and Hughes ).

This horrible situation practically guarantees that we will trade any and all prospects, and future draft picks if we have any, for scrap heap, older guys ( is Greg Maddox looking to return?) to retain the illusion that this club can still win it all.

When does the chorus of imbecility begin that when Phil Hughes comes back after the all star break, " it will be like signing a number 3 starter?"

Phil Hughes will still suck. Colon will take 3 months to heal. AJ is lousy when it counts, anyway. Freddy is one game on, one game off. And Nova is young and inconsistent.

Face it. We would be better off if we were already 22 games out, and could stand firm on making no deals until winter.

  1. Those Tim Horton donuts are the best, especially the Canadian Maple.
    Go, Canucks, Go!
Somebody's got to beat Boston, because we can't.
