Poughkeepsie Journal (New York)

To the Poughkeepsie Journal editor and all Yankee Fans:
I want you to go back in time to when ballpark fences were not pulled in, when the game was not played "indoors," to when the ball was not "juiced" up and to when there were no steroids.
Now, I want you to imagine a baseball player hitting tape-measure homers from either side of the plate. (Heaven only knows how many homers Mickey Mantle would have hit had the designated-hitter rule been in effect at that time).
"The Mick" could hit home runs underwater; he had power, speed and a love of the game and the fans that is still unmatched.
The only averages players these days care about are the Dow Jones averages. Mantle's rookie card today is worth more than he made as a player!

Mickey Mantle was/is the Lord. That's why we celebrate Mickmas every October 20.
