Haiku and baseball are two arts that have shared a history since the 1880s, after American gunboats opened Japan and the game caught on across the island. There's a whole book on it (Baseball Haiku by Nanae Tamura and Cor van den Heuvel) that is well worth a read. When you get it right, the combination can be magical.
