Letter to the Editor: "I could almost become a Yankee fan"

The Berkshire Eagle (Pittsfield, Massachusetts)
October 17, 2011 Monday

Dear Editor,

These few Red Sox malcontents, these juvenile, overpaid athletes, have ruined -- in one month -- a great baseball team. It is hard to believe. Where were the grown-ups?

The owners should simply fire the lazy ungrateful jerks for the damage done to this historic team and ship them off to Afghanistan to face the men and women who are doing their duty every single day -- for peanuts compared to the players' salaries. Let the players stand up and explain to the soldiers how tough their jobs are, how unfair their owners are.

I grew up in Brooklyn with the Dodgers, but I could almost become a Yankee fan. Who could root for the Red Sox now? Thank you, Bob Hohler of the Boston Globe, and thanks to The Eagle for publishing his article. Let the owners start over.
