A PROPOSAL TO
SAVE THE YANKEES:

What if they ALL retire after 2013?

A partial list, off the top of my head, of the bullets we'd dodge:
  1. The A-Rod PED soap opera.
  2. The oldest living shortstop.
  3. The Cano cliffhanger.
  4. 200-plus Granderson strikeouts.
  5. The A-Rod injury soap opera.
  6. Teix messages from intensive care.
  7. The aging of Andy.
  8. The decline of CC.
  9. The decline of Robertson.
  10. The deceleration of Gardner.
  11. The A-Rod deterioration soap opera.
  12. Further disappointment from Hughes.
  13. Further disappointment from Joba.
  14. The catcher who can't hit.
  15. The backup catcher who can't hit.
  16. The infuriating spectacle of an underperforming Pineda.
  17. The massive payouts that force us into the market for the cheapest free agents.
  18. The A-Rod dating soap opera.
  19. Ichiro, year three.
For nearly two decades, Mariano Rivera has been one of the Yankees' greatest and most respected leaders.

All I'm asking is that they do what they've always done.

Follow Mo.

One last time.
