The Redsocks are the Greatest Team of All-Time

BREAKING _ The mothers of New York Yankee players are demanding that the team cancel its four-game series against the Boston Redsocks, fearing their children will be hurt by the gigantic - (but MLB- certified drug-free!) - hulks from Dominica/New England.

"I don't want to see my son get run over by that monstrous Papi brute," Derek Jeter's mother told YES. "We are driving to the Stadium, and we are going to empty Derek's locker and bring him home. This is getting dangerous. The Yankees cannot beat a team that hits eight home runs a game. They will only get hurt."

  1. No, no. we must play them. and if a game gets lopsided, one way or the other, Joba's gonna collect a new Redsock scalp to add to his collection.

P.S. warning to Yankee bench: when Joba comes in wearing his war bonnet, I'd stay clear of Youk if he's at the game. Our portly, expendable hurler doesn't forget and he may get a little wild, if you know what I mean.

  2. Singleton mentioned during the Chicago series that the White Sox have the second-worst on-base percentage in the AL. So I did a little OBP research and discovered the following:
    Yankees .312
    White Sox .305
    Suzuki .302
    Astros .300
    Swisher .333
    Granderson .366

  3. I have been impressed by Granderson since he came back. He's actually hitting and not just swinging for the fences, and he's taking pitches to boot.

MLB.com has him at .268/.377, even better. Shades of Suzuki and his amazing average against lefties vs. righties, Grandy bats 100 points better at home. He does about the same vs. lefties and righties. Only 4 for 30 with RISP, though, not good. Maybe he'll pick up the pace there. Ichiro batting .250 with RISP, not great, either, but better than Grandy's .133.

Nice Late/Close stats for them both. Sneetch at .319 and Grandy .429, albeit with a very small sample size of 14 ABs.

Boston's OBP is .348, basically tied with Detroit for the MLB lead. Ergh. BA is .275 vs. our .247. For August, they have .282 but we moved up to .267 for the month, and our OBP for August is a healthy .337 against their .356.

Net-net, this weekend could really be a battle. A team that's had a really good year against a team that's coming off a really good month.

By the way, Vernon is batting .297 against lefties, which isn't bad. And it's only 40 points lower than Eetch. I thought Girardi had binders full of this kind of thing.

  4. Hey, John, Perhaps Girardi has binders full of women, who will jump out and distract the Redsocks enough for us to take 3 or 4 games. But I'm wondering who will be the one to put a fastball into Big Papi's ribs. That would be delicious, for sure. I hope we don't have to wait for Joba to make an appearance -- which would mean that that game is lost -- to get retribution.
As for Dempster, what a man of principal he turned out to be. He obviously threw at A-Rod, but he wasn't man enough to state his case. If Joba ever wants to be a New York cult hero, he should deck Papi or Elsbury or Napoli and then after the game say: An eye for an eye, and next time, one in the ear hole.
Yes, Boston does suck, and while I know from the radio and from this blog that you just can't predict baseball, I can tell you with 100 percent certainty how much I will be enjoying myself if we emerge from the next 11 games with a record of 8-3 or better.

  5. In all seriousness, if Joba comes in and puts one in Papi's ribs, he will forever be a True Yankee (TM), regardless of how erratic his pitching has become. I'll even go on EBay and try to find a "Joba Rules" tee.

Thanks to you all at IIHIIFIIc for adding to the fun and suspense that is 2013 Yankee baseball.

So, it's come down to this. It's now or never.

LET'S GO YANKEES!!!! BEAT THOSE BEANTOWN ASSHOLES!!!
