Once again, A-Rod ruins Bud's playoffs

Long long ago in a universe far far away - wait, no, actually, it was right there in New York - the great slugger Alex Rodriguez announced that he was vacating his contract with the Yankees to become a free agent. This happened during the MLB playoffs, and it defied a directive from Bud Selig that ordered everybody to STFU during the playoffs, so people might actually watch them.

Well, we know how that turned out: A-Rod ditched his super-agent Scott Boras and said he wanted to be a Yankee, and the Steinbrothers  fell blubbering all over themselves to bestow upon him the stars, the sun and the moon - forever. We're still joined at the wallet, thanks to that fateful October.

Today, Alex once again is stealing newsprint from the exciting series between the St. Louis Rams and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Today, he filed suit against Major League Baseball for launching a "witch hunt" against him.

Legal crap. Just what we needed, right? Our wretched 2013 season could not truly end until it vaulted into the warty hands of lawyers.

My bet: This will get settled. MLB will never let its once great star take such accusations into court. The question is: What deal will he get? Fifty games? Sixty five? Will we have him after the All-Star break? Or ever?

At least he isn't suing the Yankees. Randy Levine will be partying tonight.
