It'll be Cashman -- he'll get the blame when the Yanks fail to make the playoffs.
Not fair to Cashman, but maybe they'd decide to give his replacement the true authority to actually do something to change this bloated, inefficient, and ineffective organization.
Baseball Prospectus just announced its 2014 PECOTA projections. Here are the projected win totals for the AL East:
Tampa Bay Rays 89 Boston Red Sox 88 New York Yankees 82 Toronto Blue Jays 80 Baltimore Orioles 77
And that's assuming a healthy, normally productive Tex and Jeter! Time to sign up for the MLB package, maties, so you can safely jump to another ship and enjoy the summer.
Godwilling not John. But in the case that it is his time to go, I have a feeling that John won't do a farewell tour, after all he isn't the type of guy to make it all about himself.

ReplyDeleteIt's Cashman's fault for not demanding and asserting that authority.
Besides, the moves he has managed to make--aside from buying up all the top talent in a given year--sorta suck anyway.
He's a product of the Steinbrenner mafioso-style of family and friends corporate organization.
