Dean Anna is gone, so the Yankees have acquired a new guy with two first names, covering both genders

Jeff Francis. From Oakland. For cash and a (hopefully old) player to be named later. (If we gave up anybody good, you get the tar and I'll get the feathers.)

He's a 33-year-old lefty who was decent in 2007, the year most of our current players peaked.

Warning: Don't look at this record too closely. It will hurt.

  1. HA! Billy Beane rolls poor Cashman. That's not a fair fight.

So . . . let's see now, another aging loser with an ERA north of 5, and this is supposed to be an upgrade?

There are two possibilities here: Cashman is one of the dumbest people on the planet, or he's getting a larger salary, under the table, from the Red Sox or Orioles or Blue Jays than he's getting from the Yankees.

Does anyone have any contacts at any "social clubs" in Little Italy who might be persuaded to arrange for Cashman to wake up with a horse's head?

  2. another whatever move

doesn't hurt the team's future thank Dios, but it also doesn't make them good, let alone interesting enough to watch without dozing off

  5. How does it not hurt the team's future to weigh down the 25-man roster with another terrible 33-year-old? For what? And you have no idea which minor leaguer Cashman is discarding for this stiff.

You can try to take your comfort with these rationalizations, but it's more of the same, only worse. And worse is worse.
