Did Detroit pick Cashman's pocket in the Didi trade?

Altogether now...

  1. This one was written in the stars. We gave up a good, succeeding, promising pitcher for a guy named Didi. Not even Dee Dee, like the Ramone. Didi. Sounds like a miniature French poodle, fer Christ's sake.

And almost everyone here couldn't believe we gave up Shane after what he did last year.

The big laugher is that Didi can't field, as Alphonso pointed out. We knew he couldn't hit. Now he'll only be the answer to the trivia question, 'Who played short after Jeter?'

Like 'Who played first after Gehrig?' (I looked it up. It was Babe Dahlgren, who was pretty good until someone started a rumor that he smoked dope and he became a hot potato no team wanted to handle. If only he had been born a few decades later and play for the 1970s Yankees...hell, he coulda been a heroin addict if he batted .325.)

  2. Well I figured at the time of the trade that it's always good to get a good young position player who plays every day. But I assumed the Yanks had actually scouted the guy. The flaws he's showing now must have been evident in 2014. I think our scouts just assume guys will be automatically transformed by putting on the hallowed pinstripes.

  3. Didi was great in "Grease"

  4. I can picture how these trades happen. Cashman is on a conference call with the Tigers and Diamondbacks GM, they all agree on the terms, Cashman hangs up. One of the other GM says "Did we seriously just fleece this asshole again?" and then they share a big laugh.

Didi wasn't in "Grease", nor was there a character named Didi. Tying Didi to a movie like "Grease" is insulting to me. That being said:
He's got errrrrors, they're multiplying, and his hitting's terribbbble.

  5. Google Didi Conn, please. Then look up the definition of "sarcasm".

  6. That's okay. The Yankees won the Cecil Fielder trade with the Tigers in 1996. Though to be fair, that was Bob Watson's trade, not Cashman's.

  7. I stand corrected Celerino, I thought you were confusing Didi for Sonny, Putzy, or Doody. Now look up how to properly use sarcasm, because that's not it.
