Yankees-Red Sox Rivalry Found Dead

A-Rod and Papi make up. Is this the last drop of bad blood in a rivalry that hasn't mattered in this decade?

  1. Here are two comments from the ESPN article:

David Ortiz said: "I have always gotten along with everyone ... I've never harmed anybody, not even those who have tried to do me harm. It's not my problem. I will always love and respect Alex, because that is who I am, that's in my nature. I'm a big bear. I give affection to everyone."

Alex Rodriguez said: "I love Big Papi. I have a lot of respect for him. I think he's been an incredible ambassador for the game."

I said: "I think I just threw up a little in my mouth."

    Actually, I didn't say that.

My first reaction was to look up the Wikipedia entry on Kumbaya so that I could have an appropriate frame of reference for the treacle spewing forth from these two valentines.

That led me to this comment from some Kumbaya scholar at the Library of Congress." It turns out the scholar believes the Kumbaya song has come "to stand for the touchy-feely, the wishy-washy, the nerdy, and the meek."

Well said, ye librarian of Congress.

It's high time someone threw a pork-slathered hardball at their gummy heads.
