Memorize this face; he won't be here long

It is the face of someone without a massive contract, who isn't making $10 million, and who somehow - somewhere, in a distant galaxy far far away - pissed off fabled the secret scouting intelligentsia of the Yankees. It's the face of someone who doesn't belong.

Last night, Rob Refnsyder once again delivered key hits in what are becoming rare Yankee victories. Sadly, he'll soon return to Scranton, from whence he came. There is just no place for him on this Carnival ghost yacht from Hell. Third base belongs to Chase Headley - (nicknamed "Chase" because that's what Teixeira must do when the ball soars over his head, like last  night.) Second base is for Starlin Castro, (who is now batting .242 with an on base percentage below .300.) The outfield is comprised of underachieving players in which Brian Cashman has invested great personal capital, and the statue of a former Kansas City Royal.

Refsynder simply plays and delivers. What a concept. As Michael Kay would say, "See ya!"

  1. how about an IIHIIFII...C write-in campaign to put Refs on the All Star team? Flex your muscles, duque. This might even get Hal's attention and cause Hank to stop watching soccer for a moment.

  2. And Girardi threw a hissy fit with the press, shwoing that he's thinner-skinned than Trump.

By the way, this was a great line in the ESPN article about that fit:

"New York is scoring runs at its worst rate since 1972, when Bobby Murcer led the team in runs and batting average."

  3. I REMEMBER READING ABOUT REFSNYDER A FEW YEARS AGO.... I THOUGHT IT WAS A TREMENDOUS STORY, THAT HE WAS A FOREIGN CHILD, ADOPTED BY AMERICAN PARENTS, WHO ALL FELT GREAT MUTUAL LOVE FOR EACH OTHER, (NOT TO MENTION AT THE TIME HITTING .340)...... DOPEY ME, THINKING THE YANKEES COULD TURN THIS STORY AND THIS GUYS TALENT INTO A "WIN-WIN" MEDIA BLITZ FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED..... INSTEAD, WE HAVE TREATED THIS KID LIKE HE IS A BORDERLINE TERRORIST, WHO WE REALLY DON'T WANT AROUND..... "HE HAS NO POSITION".... AS CHASE HEADLEY THROWS BALLS INTO THE STANDS. BRETT GARDNER STRIKES OUT, AND AARON HICKS KEEPS HOVERING AROUND .198 , WHENEVER REFSNYDER PLAYS, HE ALMOST ALWAYS SEEMS TO WIN US A BALLGAME.....SINGLE HANDILY ...PLUS, HE HUSTLES HIS ASS OFF!!! ....WHY SHOULD THERE BE ROOM FOR HIM ON THE MAJOR LEAGUE SQUAD?..... HE HITS, HE HUSTLES, HE'S ATHLETIC.... NAH, WE CAN'T USE HIM.

The Kid is not an elite athlete , not a plus defender , and does not have power .....blah, blah, blah. All he can do is hit. Wait , hitters are what we need. He has hit at every level he has played at. More importantly he has proven he can get the clutch hits . College World Series MVP, .295 minor league average and over .300 on the major league level. Yeah, I know it is only in 50 plus at bats.

He is going to be a every day player who hits at least .275 - .280 ,gets big hits and wins .Play him more and keep him!

  5. outside the pitching staff, who else would serve the Yanks better as an All Star?

  6. RIGHT ON GHOST.....ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS LEAVE REF AT 2ND BASE AFTER THE ALL STAR BREAK LAST SEASON AFTER HE WON THE GAME IN BOSTON FOR US..... BUT CASHMAN AND GIRARDI THOUGHT IT THROUGH, AND GAVE THE JOB BACK TO STEPHEN DREW (HITTING .200). THIS WAS A MONUMENTAL MISTAKE, THAT AS I SEE IT, COST THE YANKEES $9 MILLION DOLLARS, ADAM WARREN, AND JUSTIN WILSON (WILSON WAS TRADED TO "FREE UP" SOME CASH BECAUSE OF CASTRO'S CONTRACT). THERE WAS REALLY NO NEED TO TRADE FOR CASTRO ALL ALONG... THE FAILURE TO COMMIT TO REFSNYDER, HAS HAD A DESTRUCTIVE DOMINO EFFECT ON US, THAT WHEN LOOKED AT CLOSELY, SHOULD COST PEOPLE THEIR JOBS.

  7. The obvious move is to dump A-Roid, make Carlos the DH, and put Ref in RF.

I believe -- maybe I have too much faith in the guy? -- that this is the reason Girardi had/has trouble when reporters question(ed) him about his line-up choices. He can't say out loud what he might be thinking:

"What the F am I spozed to do with this steroid freak who can't hit RH pitching, can't play the field, and is a certified dog-raper?"

He can't say that. So he "fumes".....or something.

  8. 25-28, versus 1966 24-28-1.

That tie is a pain in the ass.

Hey, Anonymous, remember Joba? Another feel-good story there, his dad sitting in the stands all the time, then the screwup with pitch limits and the infamous Torre midgejob.

Ba boom. Kid hits the trampolene, it's all over. And he grows that godawful beard.

  9. This discussion is the perfect description of what is wrong with the Yankees. From the top down:

    1. They can't judge talent
    2. They won't let young people play who have come up through the system.
    3. They will not admit to contract mistakes. If we paid the guy some outrageous amount, he is going to play...like it or not.....perform or not.
    4. Only injuries determine opportunity.

That's why we had Stephen Drew. That's why we have Headley ( look up how Solarte is doing at San Diego ).

  10. Refsnyder is my favorite current Yankee.

  11. I just cast 5 All Star write in votes for Refs, the max anyone can do in a 24 hour period. I'll keep at it until I reach the max which is 35 votes.

I voted for no other NYY position player. I have my integrity to consider.

  12. Don't you folks realize that Brian Cashman is Scott Boras's Bitch??? Any useless Boras client plays everyday for Girardi. (Ex: Drew, Ackley)
Refsnyder is the best hitter on the Yankees, and as Jack "Shrimp" Curry said last night, must be in the lineup every day.

Well, as I write this, Refsnyder seems to be our new de facto first baseman. I have a great idea: let's launch a Kickstarter campaign to buy Teixeira his own MRI machine. He can arrange for it to be hauled from stadium to stadium, so he can run a quick scan after every inning.

  14. He'll hit about .135 and be gone after his first error that leads to a loss.

Does he have a catcher's mitt? Face it folks, Refsnyder is another far-fetched, pipe dream.
