But nobody's saying what we gave up for him. My guess: It's one - maybe, gulp, two - of the young outfielders at Scranton.
(Ben Gamel, Mason Williams or Jake Cave.) Definitely need an opening for the kid we got from Cleveland in the Miller deal, and Aaron Judge will soon be playing again
(and Aaron Hicks will soon be disappeared by the CIA.)
10:19am: The D-backs are receiving right-hander Vicente Campos from the Yankees in the trade, reports MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert (via Twitter). Not bad.
ReplyDeleteThat sucks. Why would we trade Campos for an old warhorse - albeit a former Yankee - unless Hal is still thinking - no, he couldn't be - could he?
ReplyDeleteThey are not done. Rumors about Pineda and Nova going to Texas for some Texas BBQ no doubt.
ReplyDeleteFor all we know, they'll turn around and trade Clippard before the deadline.
ReplyDeleteBetting everything goes down to the wire.
Berbari on EliteSportsNY.com:
ReplyDelete"The future is bright for the first time since the most recent Bronx reign commenced in 1995.
Doesn’t it feel nice, Yankee fans?"
Yes. Yes it does.
WHEN will they dump Joe Girardi??? He is the deadest weight on the team, Naturally, Brian Cashman will go with him, in the equivalent of a one cent sale.
ReplyDeleteTYLER CLIPPARD??? WTF???? .... HE ISN'T GOOD ANYMORE, AND I BELIEVE HE IS MAKING $6 MILLION A YEAR!!!.... WTF??? ......WHY THROW AWAY SOME OF THE MONEY SAVED ON THE MILLER DEAL FOR A WASHED UP RELIEVER WHO HAS STUNK IN THE N.L. THIS YEAR????.... WAIT A MINUTE!!!.... AND I AM SERIOUS HERE..... I GOT A FEELING HAL THINKS WE CAN STILL WIN THIS YEAR, SO WE NEEDED TO PAD OUR BULLPEN BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO PACKAGE A BOATLOAD OF THESE PROSPECTS WE NOW HAVE FOR ONE...... CHRIS SALE..... YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST...... STAY TUNED.
ReplyDelete1. The Clippard deal is an odd one, and I'm sure Yankjazeera will have some whitewashed response, but it's not really a big deal. Maybe they wanted insurance? Who knows? Who cares? I'll pass on that one.
ReplyDelete2. The other two moves - much as I will miss Miller - are great.
3. They must finish the job and cut off the lard, scrape the barnacles, trim the fat, and ditch McCann, Beltran and Gardner. This may never happen, of course, because it would mean mean Cashman admitting he was wrong about some things, but we shall see.
4. THEN, they MUST start to play all the new young guys, warts and all. Let them make mistakes. Let them accumulate some big league innings. THAT would be something exciting, something that could lure many of us back to watching complete games.
5. Only then will I abandon - maybe - my love of numbered lists and pray like I used to pray in the old days.
Release A-Roid and Teix. Can't stand mirror kisser. Would be sad to see Teix go -- but it needs to be done. Miss Miller also -- very classy in his exit interviews on FAN and PIX. Again, needed to be done.
ReplyDeleteBeltran and Gardner will get something in return. Go for it.
Clippard is meh. Still have a soft spot for him when he took it on hisself to retaliate against I forget who, but it was good. Missed the guy as I recall but sent the message.
McCann I don't consider a lost cause and like his attitude.
Jacoby (HOFnot) Ellsbury should go, but we'd still have to pay his salary, so ain't gonna happen.
WE JUST GOT SWEPT!.... LETS IGNITE THE DYNAMITE!!!..... FIRE IN THE HOLE!!! BOOM!.....BOOM!......BOOM!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Baseball Again
