Sunday turkey sausage links

Embarrassment of riches! Yanks sign vet minor league catcher Wilkin Castillo! Scranton may keep the Governor's Cup, after all. (Wither goest, Chad Moeller?)

Curt Schilling-supporter Bob Klapisch says Girardi might feel pressure to win in 2017. Oh? Really? What a stunning thought. Thank God we still have sports columnists.

Mel Stottlemyre said to have improved, is leaving the hospital. Fingers crossed. One of the greatest Yankees of my lifetime. Next Old-Timers Day, last to be announced? Get well, sir.

Some guy takes it upon himself to "power rank" the Yankee broadcasters. (What people do for clicks...) On top of it, he disses The Master.  "There is nothing more frustrating than driving home at night and hearing Sterling shout in excitement, “There it goes to deep right! It is high, it is far, IT ISSSSS....caught..."  W.T.F? Should I fight this guy?

Astros take lead in rumor mill speculation for Jose Quintana. (Hint: It's Fox Sports.) For a while, the Yankees led in the gossip race for Chris Sale, and early this winter, they were tied for second in hearsay on Edwin Encarnacion. In the age of fake news, we have fake scuttlebutt. Hail Hydra.

Winter ball has come and gone. Mike Axisa sums up our far-flung players' performances. Warning: A lot of unfamiliar names and small sample sizes. Wasn't Slade Heathcott a great winter soldier, or am I mixing him up with Shelley Duncan?

Big game tonight. Giant fans still absorbed in magical thinking of a third miracle Super Bowl. Eli will be transformed, the running game will appear, and - like a prairie fire across the countryside - the people of Bedford Falls will bail out George Bailey's debt. Me? I dunno. I still suffer from childhood PTSD from the memory of Vince Lombardi's Packers stomping us into paste. Sam Huff, Andy Robustelli, Rosie Greer, Frank Gifford, Kyle Rote... crushed like an empty soda can. It's been half a century, but I still relive the pain. All I will allow myself to think is this: If the Giants somehow were to run the table again - and beat Brady - it would go down as the greatest trilogy in the history of entertainment.

  1. A few hours, and we'll know, duque - - your Giants vs. my Pack - - Will your Giants prove to be Midgets, or will My Pack turn into Soft-Serve?? All will be resolved by approx. 8 tonight.

Personally, I hope OB tweaks a gonad, or two today....sorry. WE can beat the Cheaters, as handily as Eli & Co. can.

Good thing we have all those exciting Yankees' happenings to distract us from such an acrimonious rivalry, huh??

    GO, PACK!! LB (No J)

  2. I DON'T KNOW WHO WINS THIS GAME, BUT BEING A BETTING MAN, GETTING 5 1/2 , (AND BUYING 2 MORE), FOR A TOTAL OF 7 1/2 POINTS, MAKES THE NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS MY BET TODAY......BETTER DEFENSE THAN THE PACK, HEALTHIER THAN THE PACK, AND THE GHOST OF ELI'S PAST, READY TO SPRINKLE HIS POST SEASON "SPELL"..........RODGERS IS AMAZING THOUGH......AMAZING.

  3. If we weren't having to rely on our 3rd- and 4th-string defensive backs, all-caps, i would take your bet in an instant. Here's hoping, though, that Ha Ha Clinton-Dix gets the last laugh! LB (No J)

  5. Sorry, guys, but NOT IN OUR HOUSE - - not tonight.
Bye, bye, Eli - - that's what you get for being friends w/ "Poopa John" Schnat-face!!
As for you, OB, well, I hope you enjoyed your trip to Miami - - you can go back there tomorrow, and party some more.
Don't enjoy compounding your nightmares, Duque, but if it's any consolation, they really HAD us for the first 28 minutes.
