The man who should be Yankee manager

... is doing this in Miami.

  1. To paraphrase Tim Robbins in The Sure Thing:

"I'm Donnie Moore. But not THAT Donnie Moore. He's dead."

  2. The Sure Thing

One of the funniest movies ever filmed.

Nick's your buddy. Nick's your pal. Nick doesn't mind if you puke in his car. Oh. Sorry. Vomit."

  3. Our manager is a blockhead. Mattingly has cement blocks broken on his chest.

Not much more to say there.

  4. PUT YOUR FEELINGS FOR MATTINGLY ASIDE..... HE SUCKS AS A MANAGER....SORRY.....I DON'T WANT HIM NEAR OUR DUGOUT, (UNLESS IT IS AN OLD TIMERS DAY).

  5. No Yankee fan can put his feelings for Mattingly aside.

    Nope. Can't be done.

  6. Duque is right.

I didn't see or hear many Dodger or Marlins games the last few years, and I don't question all-caps's assessment; I know the guy managed a team that went through a lot of ownership acrimony a few years ago, and he led the Marlins to a close to .500 record last season. I'm sure he's made a lot of mistakes, too, but I'm also sure I've never seen a guy who tried to win more. He made the 1980's not suck more than anyone else on that team, and apparently was one of the guys who helped Bernie get accustomed to the bigs while assholes like Mel Hall were doing the shit they do.

I know this is all based on my love of they guy as a player; like I said, Duque is right. But I'd take a chance on him managing the kids, however they finished, rather than trusting them to Girardi and Rothschild and forcing Headley and Chris Fucking Carter into the lineup to rest Greg Bird. Hell; maybe Donnie could coax Sammy Ellis out of retirement (or death; I don't know, sadly) and work with Pineda like he worked with Righetti in '82; Donnie was in Columbus then and I'm sure he noticed.

All of which means nothing other than that Duque is right.
