Official "Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter" IT IS HIGH game thread

Let's just face it: There is no way we can beat Vada Pinson and the Reds again tonight. All we can do is appreciate the fact that Cinncy is a powerhouse, unlike anything we've yet seen. If we keep it close, we should be happy and proud. I know I will be.

  1. We have Joe Girardi going for us tonight;

    1. Hicks, the hottest hitter in the league, is sitting down.

    2. We are substituting strikeouts for defense at first base ( really? )

    3. Canadian Club is starting, which should bring joy to the Reds.

    4. We are " due" to lose this one. I don't think there is a ju-ju trick to avoid it. I am looking in my trunk in the attic.

  2. We can't beat the Reds '17 Hall of Fame Superteam of Destiny.

  4. CC will be on the DL before his next start. Calling it now.

  5. CC ON THE MOUND? Abandon all hope.

  6. knee problems will land him and his 7.00 era on the disabled list.

ooo, Carter almost bobbled that bunny bouncer down the line, but thank goodness we got out of the 2nd inning without getting fired by Trump.

  7. of course we have no hope and really should have forfeited and probably would have if the good people of Cincinnati hadn't put their hard-earned paychecks on the line for the privilege of watching this below-standard group from New York.

OMG! CC is leading off the 3rd, which means he's going to come out and pitch again. Is this the equivalent of raising the white flag of surrender by Girardi?

...if you care to send one to a "special" friend.

And I saw what you did there.

  9. Judge sucks.

We should send him to the minors and recall Higashioka.

  10. We'll lose 20-3.

    I can see it coming.

  11. Now, that's the CC i know. Welcome back, man!

  12. No offense tonight, folks. Hicks on the bench. Holliday on the bench.

Have they figured out Judge? And Carter is working on the golden sombrero.

    So what can we expect?

We had won too many in a row, anyway.

  13. geez. CC's belly is flopping over his belt like he's in peak condition. I was going to compare his physique to the other CC -- Chris Carter -- but that would be an insult to Carter. Not sure which one is more valuable, though.

  14. Lindy McDaniel reference from Michael Kay. Loved that guy. Last Yankee pitcher to hit a home run, 1972 off Mickey Lolich.

  15. Hal Reniff and Dooley Womack.

  16. I'm not a doctor or anything, but maybe somebody should take the valium away from our man Chris Carter.

  19. WE GOT A BIG FAT PROBLEM WITH CC....
    HOW ABOUT THIS...
LET CC TRADE PLACES WITH LAYNE IN THE PEN
    SEND LAYNE TO SCRANTON
USE CHANCE ADAMS (AS PER A DRUNK ALPHONSO)
    BRIAN MITCHELL OR,
CHAD GREEN IN THE ROTATION INSTEAD.

I DON'T SEE CC LASTING IN THIS ROTATION ALL SEASON, HE'S GETTING MURDERED WILL KILL US IF THIS CONTINUES.

  20. I just need to say, one more time, this is all Greg Bird's fault.

If he hadn't lied to the Yankees about the severity of his injury, in his desperate effort to play, we would have a first baseman who can both catch the ball and hit.

Instead, we have the strike out king and stone hands, sharing the spot. Any production out of that spot, and this game is still on.

In addition, the rookies ( Sanchez and Judge ) both feel they have to hit home runs with every at bat, to help get this team back in the game. They are over swinging, at a lot of bad balls.

Bummer. We were never in this game.

  21. Gotta' look on the bright side of things, guys - - CC is IMPROVING - - this time, he only gave up FIVE runs in the first couple innings - - last time, it was SIX. Dare we hope that next time through, it will only be FOUR?? I mean, maybe he'll get a double-play to get out of a jam - - like Layne did, the night before, to end the game.
Just think of it this way: the more runners you put on base, the easier it is to get infield outs - - n'est-ce pas?? LB (No J)

  22. I think this is where George Steinbrenner would call CC a fat toad.
