Everybody loves Redsock fans because they've suffered so much... right?

This was unfurled over the Green Monster last night. Neat, eh?

  1. Racism is American as Baseball - well that's true in Boston anyway. I'm still waiting for the Bill Russell, Jim Rice tribute in Copley Sq.

  2. It's hard to tell what's more troubling: The banner that was unfurled over the Green Monster or the ad for a gambling casino permanently painted on the Green Monster.

  3. Reading the story, the banner unfurlers were actually making a statement against racism. I was confused at first, and just thought they were typical Bostonians.

  4. Nice one, John M!

    And yes, the Foxwoods ad?

Last time I was at the casino—which was a while ago—they had white waitresses walking around in sexy Indian costumes, and a giant sculpture of an Indian brave about to fire an arrow. About as much "red minstrelsy" as you could get!

  5. Racism and Baseball

    Baseball, Apple Pie, and Chevrolet.

Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye.

    Good old boys. Racists.

    It all makes sense.

  9. The sign originally said, " Racism is as American as the Red Sox."
