  1. EVERYONE IS GOING BAT-SHIT CRAZY OVER GIRARDI'S BLUNDERS.

HE IS BEING PILED ON NOW...

......SORRY TO SAY, BUT HE DESERVES IT.

FUNNY HOW THE WORLD IS NOW SEEING WHAT MOST OF US HERE AT IIHIIFIIC ALREADY KNOW.

GIRARDI HAS TOO MANY ODD FOIBLES.... TOO MUCH RIGIDITY.... WAY TOO MUCH BY THE BINDER.... EVERYTHING IS A SCIENCE.... TOO MUCH RESTING PLAYERS AT THE WRONG TIMES (EXCEPT FOR THE ONES STRUGGLING- I COULD NEVER FIGURE THAT OUT- REST THE GUYS WHO ARE GETTING HOT- BUT KEEP PLAYING THE PLAYERS WHO ARE STRUGGLING???- THAT ALONE IS NUTS.

JUST LOOK AT FRANCONA.... HE JUST LETS THE GAME FLOW, AND MAKES HIS MOVES ACCORDINGLY..... HE MAKES MANAGING LOOK EASY, AS OPPOSED TO GIRARDI WHO LOOKS LIKE HE'S PULLING TEETH THE ENTIRE GAME.

IT'S TIME....WE HAVE THE TALENT RISING....

NOW WE NEED A NEW LEADER TO CALL THE SHOTS.

  2. I've said this before. The only reason he hasn't caught that much flak before is because of Terry Collins. Terry is an easy target and is always getting killed, thus acting as a shield for Joey Blue Binders. Now that he's gone and the spotlight was on Joe last night, it was clear to everyone how bad of a manager he is. I'm hopeful this gets him canned. They'll probably promote one of their minor league managers to his spot as I don't see them shaking things up anymore than that.

  3. Hold on there fellas! I’m sure there is a sabermetric justification for what Joey did last night. A key statistic involving a pitchers rhythm and probabilities of successful outcomes. We’re all just too dumb to understand modern baseball. Joey had the numbers on his side.

  4. On the other hand, maybe Joey simply feels a failed challenge is a blotch on his impeccable character.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I found out after the game that you get 2 challenges in the playoffs. THERE WAS LITERALLY NO DOWNSIDE TO CHALLENGING

  6. The old folks my 93 year old mom follows on Facebook were screaming for Joey's head this morning. That's pretty amazing.

  7. KD, as usual, gets this ass-backwards. Girardi is not really a sabremetric manager--not nearly as much as far better managers such as Joe Maddon and Terry Francona. Girardi's premature yanking of Sabathia was just sweaty, temperamental, masochistic panic. He had a five-run lead and should have been exerting every effort to AVOID using Green and Robertson, the prize bullpen assets that he wore down to the bone just two days earlier. With a five-run lead, he could have let Sabathia go two more innings--or up to 100 pitches (he was only at 77 when removed)--and, as long as things remained under control, brought in Garcia or Montgomery to get to the eighth and THEN Betances and Chapman. Instead, he perversely managed as though the Yankees were behind by five runs. Just bizarre.

Now let's look at the fiasco of Girarid' botching of the top of the eleventh inning. Todd Frazier leads off with a two-base error--hence, YOU ALREADY HAVE A RUNNER IN SCORING POSITION. Nevertheless, with the agile bat of Gardner at the plate, likely to produce the hit needed to score the run or the walk needed to keep the rally going, he unaccountably decides to GIVE AWAY AN OUT by having Gardner bunt and thus push the Yankees one third of the way toward offensive death for the inning, and provably lessening the chances of scoring at all. He pinch-runs Torreyes--a weird maneuver since he was intending to sacrifice-bunt anyway (Torreyes's speed would have been critical only in an attempt to score from second on a single), with the predictably catastrophic results.

NOW . . . for a contrast of managerial styles, and for an understanding of how an appreciation of sabremetrics INCREASES chances of winning: Austin Jackson walks and steals second. So . . . runner on second and no one out. What does Girardi do in that situation? Of course, he bunts, which may not work, and even if it does work, brings your team one giant stride closer to offensive death for the inning and REDUCES the odds of your scoring the run. And what does Francona do? He abjures the bunt, because, like Girardi in the eleventh, HE ALREADY HAS A FAST RUNNER IN SCORING POSITION AND A GOOD HITTER AT THE PLATE. Not being a dumbass and having studied the relevant numbers, he has Gomes swing away--and ballgame over.

All you KD-style philistines who years for bunts and more bunts, steals and more steals, more hit-and-runs, remain blissfully unaware that statistical study has PROVED that, on average (with certain exceptions) are losing strategies. You guys are like the bozos who zoom to the blackjack table in Vegas without having studies the odds of various kinds of hands. It's not those bozos who clean up in Vegas--it's the card counters and math whizzes who have mastered the odds of various scenarios.

Girardi, contrary to myth, is not Joey Binders. He's just an erratic, cold, unappealing creep who doesn't really have a good grasp of strategy and who has now lost the clubhouse. Francona is the opposite on all counts--that's one of many reasons why the Indians are winners now, and the Yankees are losers.

The baseball gods are capricious--we cannot rule out a miraculous rising from the dead for the Yankees. But it will be in spite of, not because of, Girardi's inept managing.

    I DIGRESS, DOUCHEBAG.

AMAZING HOW YOU CONNECT CAPITAL LETTERS WITH BEING ILLITERATE.

I WATCHED 165 YANKEE GAMES THIS YEAR.

IN MOST GAMES, THEY DID NOT BUNT WITH RISP AND NO OUTS..... AND COULD NOT SCORE.

JUST BECAUSE CLEVELAND GOT A BASE HIT WITHOUT BUNTING IN THE 13TH INNING TO WIN THE GAME IS NOT EVEN A SPEC TO BOLSTER YOUR ARGUMENT.

  15. HEY MORON--YOU DON'T DOCUMENT ANY OF YOUR ASSERTIONS, ALL OF WHICH HAVE BEEN STUDIED AND DEBUNKED OVER THE PAST FORTY YEARS.

YOU NEED TO SPEND MORE TIME ON A CONSTRUCTIVE HOBBY WHERE YOU DON'T MAKE AN ASS OF YOURSELF IN PUBLIC EVERYDAY, WHICH IS YOUR ONLY EVIDENT PURPOSE HERE. WHY NOT ALPHABETIZE BY TITLE THE VAST KIDDIE PORN COLLECTION YOUR KEEP THERE IN YOUR ABODE IN YOUR MOMMY'S BASEMENT? THAT SHOULD KEEP YOU OFF THIS BOARD FOR AT LEAST A THREE OR FOUR MONTHS.

  16. OH DUMBASS--THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE REFUTES EVERYONE OF THE COMPLETELY FALSE ASSERTIONS THAT YOU PULLED OUT OF YOUR FETID ASS IN YOUR LAST POST, INCLUDING YOUR MISTAKEN NOTIONS ABOUT THE MANAGING OF THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS. AS I SAID, IT'S TIME TO EXPAND YOUR READING BEYOND YOUR PORN COLLECTION AND TO LEARN THE BASIC RULE OF CIVILIZED DISCOURSE--IF YOU CAN'T DOCUMENT OR PROVE YOUR ASSERTIONS IN SOME MANNER, THEN MERCIFULLY SHUT THE FUCK UP.

  17. HEY DUMBASS--YOU'VE REFUTED YOUR OWN THESIS. YOU'VE WATCHED EVERY YANKEE GAME--FOR LACK OF A LIFE, APPARENTLY--AND YOU STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. QED.

  24. Come on Anonymous how can you say that move to leave Green in wasn't textbook Joey Binders? Despite struggling to put away Austin Jackson and then giving up a double to Gomes he left him in because the binder said Green was the Yankees best reliever. Then he couldn't put away Chisenhall before the fuckup of the century. So after three batters of a guy who clearly isn't on his game tonight Joey Blue Binders kept him in because Lindor was 0-2 with 2 K's against Green.

"He's just an erratic, cold, unappealing creep who doesn't really have a good grasp of strategy." That made me laugh, he is a creep. That is also all true. However it isn't mutually exclusive from his by the binders style. He had a plan to bring Green in because of the binders. When the plan went awry and he clearly needed to shift gears he didn't. Why not? Because he doesn't have a grasp of strategy and know when to cut the cord on the plan the binders drew up.

I'm not really sure how you interpret the binder. I know when we talk about it, we're referring to the rigidity and almost OCD of "this guy has to pitch this inning because that's the one he's assigned." Or the even more frustrating instances where he brings in his best pitcher anytime things get closer than expected even if its a 5 run lead in the 9th and he's pitched a lot lately. Then after burning him out by July be surprised when he can't pitch effectively in August and July." That of course is Betances in 2015 and 2016, and I think he did this with Robertson in 2014. I can remember him bringing Miller in a 9-4 game in Fenway because the Shreve's and Holder's of that year gave up a run and there was a guy on 2nd with 1 out. Or a 5 run lead in the 6th and even though the starting pitcher is cruising, he still walked a guy so let's go to the best reliever.

I just don't know why you think he isn't Joey Blue Binders

  25. Leinstery--I have no idea what you're talking about. An increasingly refined area of analytics is understanding the role of overuse in engendering arm fatigue and burnout and injury. I'm not sure what you want me to say here--Girardi made a horrible move in prematurely yanking Sabathia, and an even worse move in relying so heavily on two pitchers whom he had pushed to the limit just 48 hours earlier. A sound grasp of analytics would have dictated giving those two pitchers an extra days' rest, or using them very sparingly--for an out or two at most. This move had nothing to do with "binders" mentality--it was just sweaty panic that led him off a tangent. He was five runs ahead--Sabathia had thrown only 77 pitches and was cruising. No doubt Sabathia could have pitched seven innings, obviating the need to use the already overused Green and Robertson. This is not a function of "binders" mentality-which is a moronic swipe at the analytics used extensively by all the best managers. In this case is it was simply flop sweat eclipsing even basic intelligence. They guy has some sort of basic emotional problem that leads him to spit the bit under pressure.

  26. HERE'S THE ANSWER TO THE "MORONIC SWIPE AT ANALYTICS"....

    WATCH MORE YANKEE GAMES.

    THERE'S ANOTHER ONE TOMORROW.

    DON'T MISS IT!

  27. I would ask only, in addition to all of the above, why do you have pitchers on your postseason roster who you do not trust with a five-run lead? Why?

I refer specifically to Garcia and Montgomery.

Montgomery has pitched valiantly, and with increasing effectiveness, all year long. Garcia...mm, not so much. But he has often looked good one or two times around the lineup.

Why not pitch these guys? The only other conceivable time you might is an even bigger blowout, one way or the other...which does what for us, exactly?

    ReplyDelete
  28. "a sound grasp of analytics", eh?? In your case, Stat-Boy (Stupid Little Bat-Boy), it's obviously more a case of "anal tics" - - no 'y' necessary, in your sorry case.

Anyway, guys, I sense a disturbing trend here: anyone disagrees with this troll, he immediately goes after the size of your dick; then intimates that you have a collection of child-porn...this guy is obviously sick; I diagnose a case of narcissistic transference - - the dude (I am assuming it's a dude) sub-consciously transfers all his faults onto YOU - - yes, YOU - - who just disagreed with him. Obviously, you're a f*cking MORON if you don't bow to his ANAL TIC superiority!!

Don't let the fun stop here, though - - go back to the previous post - - he cut and pasted the same huge bag of verbal garbage onto this post that he entered on the last one - - and I have been having some fun with him over there, too...feel free to chime in...tell he can't have your member, no matter HOW much he craves it.

I keep telling him, he'd have better luck with Chris Christie, if he could pry him away from Jerry Jones.

All-caps: I'm not sure that watching more Yankee games would help this he/she/it - - it seems to have induced more dementia, probably by the above-mentioned narcissistic transference. I think he wants Joey, too - - it's probably that stoic, far-away look in Joey's eyes, don'cha' think?? LB (No J)

  29. HEY ALL-CAPS, THE BLOG DUNCE--HAVING NO LIFE, YOU WATCH EVERY GAME, AND YOU'RE STILL A MORON. SO THAT'S OBVIOUSLY NO PANACEA.

  30. Hey Small Pepee boy-did you have a substantive baseball point to make, with sound documentation, or are just out here to salvage what's left of your ego, which has now shrunk to even smaller dimensions than your dick? I've provided copious documentation and evidence for every assertion I've made--and all you can offer is the increasingly putrid upchuck of our diseased psyche. PHEW! This blog needs a thorough airing out of all the dumbass psychos who go into emotional collapse whenever anyone makes passing reference to the modes of baseball analysis that are now routine in baseball front offices and among the better mass media analysts. Thanks to el duque's tolerance of this idiocy--and his own occasional lapses into it--this has to be, overall, the blog with the lowest baseball IQ on the Internet.

    ReplyDelete
  31. HoraceClarke66--you're spot on. With a five-run lead, it was simply perverse to yank a cruising Sabathia and then not use the fresh arms you had on hand . . . until and unless there was trouble brewing.

  32. Hey Teeny Peepee Boy--you're one sick, pathetic fuck. You throw around terms like "verbal bag of garbage" to assuage your festering, damaged ego, but you spend your entire life on this blog obsessing about me, twitching in agony at my every post, hurling masscult vituperation at a stranger on the Internet, but betraying zero knowledge of the game of baseball. After all, Peepee Boy, the subject here is baseball--not primal therapy for braying miscreants like you. And really--what fun are you having? You enjoy the spectacle of your ritual humiliation every day? You are a glutton for ridicule? You lack the gene that triggers public embarrassment in sane people? You wouldn't know OPS+ from FIP from RET, yet you feel somehow that the world cannot survive without your alliance with All CAPS in extolling the virtues of illiteracy and stupidity. So other than advertising the gruesome extent of your wasted, blighted life, what is your purpose here? Do tell--truth be told, no one can really help looking at a car wreck--or a wrecked life like yours.

  33. To paraphrase Joe G, as an anonymous (but a genuine fan of IIHIIc), brother anonymous is right on this one. The name calling is good fun, but he's right. Girardi blew it in a bunch of ways in gm 2, but not protecting the bullpen was the original sin from whoch all other disasters followed. CC shpuld have had a longer leash.

  34. Girardi screwed up royally. Statsnonymous lists his sins in full detail. Yankees coulda, shoulda. Now they aint gonna.
