Take a bottle of your finest partially consumed scotch. Decide to trade it for a six pack of beer that was rated 98 points two years ago but has since gone flat. Change your mind. Drink the scotch.
So according to "analytics" Cole is a BP pitching machine. So why are we pursuing him considering how the ball flies out of Yankee Stadium? I can see those curve balls being hit into Rivera Ave.

Time to celebrate!
ReplyDelete3 oz Buffalo Trace Bourbon
1 luxardo cherry plus a little juice
very small slice of orange or bit of orange peel
Angostura bitters
muddle cherry and orange. add bourbon and dash of bitters, stir. Add one large ice cube. NO WATER/SODA/SELTZER OR OTHER DILUENT!!
Enjoy responsibly. and by "responsibly" I mean don't bust your ass while making it upstairs to the bedroom.
CHEERS!
Perhaps a Cole Brew.

Celebrating too soon is bad juju.
ReplyDeleteAre we celebrating too soon?
Cash swooping in at last minute to acquire 2018 AL CYA winner Gerrit Cole!
ReplyDeleteI'm relieved (that might be a bad pun). Let's give Chance Adams a chance to win a Cy Young for us.
ReplyDeleteGrrrrrrr. Looks like it's not happening. Grrrrrrr. Just a false rumor.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about Gerrit Cole that seems to inspire madness in GMs, scouts, commentators, and fans everywhere?
The latest "analysis" I read this morning was that the key to fixing Cole was "the analytics."
No, this was not one of the lesser Motown groups, and it's not what you subject your car to at the garage.
It's the suggestion that Cole was throwing too many fastballs last year, so he should instead throw more off-speed stuff, more often.
That's it. That's "the analytics."
Really, As if nobody but the Yankees could figure that out.
Mrrrrghsrarrrrrgrrrrr!
And like that.
OK maybe I jumped the gun but if you can't trust Ken Rosenthal who can you trust.
ReplyDeleteWell at least I got some scotch out of it. Oh, and some Kool Aid apparently.

COOP CASHMAN IS UNBELIEVABLE.
ReplyDeleteHE IS SUPPOSED TO BE SO TUNED IN TO METRICS, STATS AND NUMBERS.
THEN WHY IS HE NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE MOST GLARING WEAKNESS IN GERRIT COLE'S GAME?
THE HOME RUNS!
SURE, LETS PUT A HOME RUN PRONE RIGHT HANDED PITCHER (FROM THE NL NO LESS), INTO THE COZY CONFINES OF OUR RIGHT FIELD.
OH, AND BY THE WAY, LETS GIVE UP OUR TOP PROSPECTS FOR HIM.
THINK COOP, THINK!!!

ReplyDeleteMr. Occam here, with your Daily Razor:
ReplyDeleteA pitcher has a bad year, and is reported to be suffering from "elbow problems."
The same pitcher has a much worse year the next season.
Your conclusion is:
A) His arm is injured
B) He can be brought around with "analytics"
C) He is under the curse of a neighborhood witch, who should be burned immediately
If you said B or C, congratulations! You are qualified to be a major-league general manager. Also, to be a medieval peasant in Ukraine.
So according to "analytics" Cole is a BP pitching machine. So why are we pursuing him considering how the ball flies out of Yankee Stadium? I can see those curve balls being hit into Rivera Ave.

ReplyDeleteWow, I thought I could trust the NY Post. After all, they're owned by Rupert Murdoch.
My bad.
