Finally, We Learn Something...

It took a while, but now we know.

Score 10 runs, overuse your best bullpen guy, and see if you can grasp onto the rails and stay on board.

Let's be honest;  blowing an 8-1 lead and hanging on to win 10-7 in their ballpark felt like a loss.

The good news is that we scored the extra two runs ( giving a 10-6 lead to our closer is a lot more comfortable than a 8-6 lead).

The good news is that the elephant came alive all at once ( Gary S.  for those who don't know).  And David Price was simply consumed, like the tall grass of the African plains.

The bangers were banging, and hitting with RISP.

And then there was the Tyler Austin thing.

A spark that we are willing to kick ass in more ways than the scoreboard.

But it does appear that we have to be prolific scorers to beat a good team.

Our starters ( so far ) are struggling to go five innings, much less give us 6-7 innings.  Our bullpen has been less than stellar.  Our closer is shaky, shaky, shaky.

We are "down" far too many players, and it is early.  Not to mention that Tyler will lose games due to the conservative clerics at MLB HQ.

" Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead."

  1. I'm with you, Alphonso. These are perilous times and our "staff" is pretty ragged at the moment. Our staff needs to find its stuff and get stiff again. Stiff staff stuff. Capeish? In the meantime, even though there are never any "winners" in a baseball fight - except for "Zim Vs Pedro: Battle of the Titans," in which Zim clearly won, we needed those fisticuffs more than they did yesterday. They proved themselves to be sissy-boys who were crying over a legal slide. We showed that we can take on the NY Giants if need be.

  2. Stiff staff stuff aside, our starters need to grace us with their presence for more than 5 innings.

  3. For damn' sure, LBJ. I'm doubting it will happen tonight, though. LB (No J)

  4. Amen, LBJ. And yes, tonight we have Sonny Gray, Boy Pitcher going for us. Oy.

Pitching will be our toughest obstacle. It usually is.

  5. Joel Sherman tweets rumor that Joe Kelly gets 6 game suspension and Tyler Austin gets 5 game suspension.

    Man what an overreaction.

  6. Sonny Gray is pure shit. How could he pitch so well in Oakland and so bad here. I just assume it's a loss before he even sets foot on the mound.

  7. He really manages to look worse than the inning before. It's mesmerizing how bad he is.

  8. Sonny Gray had great stuff. He sucks, but he has great stuff.

  9. I was giving him credit for having the gonads to hit Hanley. Then...I realized that he just didn't have any control.
