There are noises from several sources that Red Thunder is headed to the big club.
Possibly joining them in DC.
What adjustment would the Yankees have to make to accommodate him?
Is it true?
Go to your local bars, order a crown royal shot and a beer, and ask the person sitting to your left if they have heard anything.
Do it now, and get back to us when you feel able.

One tweet unsubstantiated (fake) had Hicks on the DL.
ReplyDeleteRumor mill says Hale or Cole goes to Scranton...most likely Hale.
More...Hicks is leading off tonight...Frazier is NOT in starting lineup.
ReplyDeleteHicks might get "injured" in the near future. would it be unethical to invoke our collective juju tonight? I mean, it couldn't be pinned on us, could it?
ReplyDeleteI pray Hicks lands on the 60 day DL. He is no more than a defensive sub. The other day Francesa was blaming Gary's lack of offensive production on the fact that Hicks hits behind him and Hicks is no threat to pitchers and "leaves a trillion runners on base."
ReplyDeleteSo now we have Hicks leading off in Gardy's spot, because everyone knows he absolutely kills lefty pitching... Tomorrow he'll be batting 6th and remain entrenched in Center because Cooperstown can't quit him. Boston is finally waking up to the fact that Jackie Bradley Jr stinks and is just a good glove. Here we have a guy who Coops touted as our own JBJ (who wants their own JBJ? really) and he gets chance after chance to prove that he is worth keeping around and he squanders it every single night. Oh but Leinstery he manufactured that run in Houston. Yeah after Gary hit a 3 run homerun and in a game where the Astros never threatened to score.
I'm just sick of him, and want to see Red Thunder get his shot.
Other good sources for news: people sitting beside you on the subway, the guys hanging around on the stoop, and random internet posts.
ReplyDeleteHere's my contribution:
So, the Sox are sour on Jackie Rogers, Jr.—xcuse me—Jackie Bradley, Jr., eh?
Well, how about we offer them Jacoby, in exchange for a few young arms? We'd even agree to pick up most of his salary...
Brilliant--just what the Red Sox need--a washed-up aging discard from the Yankees.
ReplyDeleteThis is typical fan stupidity--every other team must be panting to collect the Yankees' trash--even teams with as shrewd a front office as the Red Sox.
Just listen to WFAN for a few minutes--it's nothing but this kind of imbecility--some of it from the hosts.
I would rather punch myself in the crotch than listen to WFAN.
ReplyDeleteHicks starting things off right with a two pitch weak ground ball out.
ReplyDeleteAnd for an encore he strikes out with runners on 2nd and 3rd. The count was also 2-0 at one point.
ReplyDelete.215 BA .327 On Base .376 Slugging going into the game. Wowsers he's bad. If he played a full season there is certainly a possibility that Altuve would finish with a higher batting average than Hicks' slugging %
Why is Hicks even starting over Frazier? That's just perverse. This year Hicks has some of the ugliest numbers against left-handed pitching ever recorded since the advent of handwriting. Is Boone taking a backroom per diem payoff from the Nationals?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous you could have ended at "starting". 0-3 ball has yet to leave the infield. Tanaka has looked less over-matched at the plate than him.
ReplyDelete11 in a row for Masahiro.
ReplyDeleteTorres is rubbing his hand. Hopefully just a funny bone injury and not non-funny.
ReplyDeleteRain delay.
ReplyDeleteWho has the Abbott and Costello clips?
Let's lineup to throw bricks at Hicks & save one for Coops too for bringing this hack in... Terrible
ReplyDelete'Stang promised us Abbott and Costello, I think.
ReplyDeleteAt least I have the superteamofdestiny (part deux) performing badly.
ReplyDeleteM(VP)ookie (five tool) Betts misplaying a ball over his head to score two runs AND Babe Benintendibenwa running into the third out at third. Then Athletic's HR in the next half inning. Life is good.

ReplyDeleteEnjoy
Thanks KD.
ReplyDeleteAlso, just saw that the guy that hit the home run for the A's was the guy whose mother died a few days ago. Pretty dramatic.
For Rufus

Joe F,bringing him in is more or less whatever. The problem is he refuses to give up on him. How more more does he need to see? How long was Stephen Drew on the team? A year and a half I believe. Hicks is in his third year (2.25 played) and if I had to guess he's going to be on the 25 man roster through this year and probably next year because Coops will have finally achieved his dream of getting rid of Gardner, thus extending the "need" to keep Hicks.
ReplyDeleteThey're practically begging to give Clint away, once called the poor man's Mike Trout. Well I'd rather have the poor man's Mike Trout than the poor man's JBJ.
And that was a real nice moment for Piscotty, shame those Boston fans had no idea what was going on and just grumbled in the stands. That moment was certainly worthy of a good cheer.
Yes, time to get Clint up here.
ReplyDeleteAwful, awful clutch hitting tonight; thank goodness it was Tyler One's turn to sing, "But I'm Telling You, I'm Not Going." We should go all out to try to win the make-up four innings tomorrow, as they have Scherzer going in the full game.
Meanwhile, Jaime Garcia got beat up by the Mets tonight, leaving his ERA at 6.28 for the season. I would laugh harder, save for the fact that Zack Littell, after a terrible start on the season, is now pitching quite well in Triple-A.
Yeah, glad we don't have that guy in Scranton.
That's Erma Brombeck to you, buster.
ReplyDeleteMORE CLINT, LESS HICKS.
ReplyDeleteIS IT ME, OR DOES IT FEEL LIKE HICKS ISN'T EVEN THERE THIS YEAR?
I think it was Alphonso—maybe Duque—who predicted it: all the weight lifting would lead to him tweaking something.
ReplyDeleteHe did, went on the DL, and has never rebounded. Or, more likely, his hot streak early last year was the anomaly. Bummer. I always found him likable, and he always seemed to be trying his damnedest. He just doesn't seem to have it.
Aww, Boston lost again. Darn.
ReplyDeleteIf Red Thunder is hooking up in DC, his nickname is literally following: after last night's 5-1/2 innings were rained out, there is (according to AccuWeather) a 65% chance of thunderstorms at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm in DC this evening, with bad weather lingering through the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI guess if you look up the term "rally killer" in the dictionary you'll see a picture of Aaron Hicks.
