All right, everybody... GET YOUR COMIC BOOKS ON!

For the last 15 months, Mustang and I have been working on launching a comic book company... and here we are... in today's Hollywood Reporter.

“New start-up publisher AHOY Comics is being founded on the idea that there's something unique about the reading experience that isn't available in other media.”—NEWSARAMA

“AHOY Comics are aiming to make a big splash come September.”—COMICON

“Impressive.”—GRAPHIC POLICY

“Those of you saying we need more bang for your buck, look no further. Ahoy there.”—COMICS BEAT

AHOY Comics “boasts a lineup of top creators and feature cartoons, prose and poetry.”—THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

We are gonna do this. And the Yankees are going to win the World Series. And this blog will continue to chronicle our heroes on this quest!

  2. Duque and Mustang,

Lives well led. Both of you. I tip my cap. It looks great.

I read the article on NewsaRama and you can put me down for at least two of the titles.

Also, just between us, Alphonso is Dragonfly yes? I have never seen them in the same room together. I promise not to tell.

  3. Congrats guys,

Now you'll be able to go to Comic-Con for 'professional reasons'.

In that spirit, can we start a new set of victory ladies of Comic-Con?

    Here's a start:

  4. According to the Master, Hicks is a "great hitter" and has a "great eye". It's time we put him in a home.

SUGGESTION: COMIC BOOK HEROES AND CHARACTER'S WITH HINT'S OF YANKEE BASEBALL'S PAST!

EXAMPLES: BERNIBUS THE GUITAR PLAYING SUPERHERO .
    JETERIOUS THE "INTANGEBLE" SUPERHERO.
THURMANATOR THE "ULTIMATE CAPTAIN" AND FEARLESS LEADER.

NO LAWSUITS FROM TAKING MY SUGGESTIONS.

  7. Hey good luck on the comics! Why not come to Utica's Comic Con (Uticon) for a little self promotion? It's also in September! It's my neck of the woods and I'd love to see ya all there.

  8. There's the Mendoza line. Sanchez is way below that.

Is there another line down there? How about the Stanley line for old friend Fred. He batted .184 one year for the Yankees.

  9. Stanton struck out on a pitch that hit home plate.

  10. Congrats, guys! If only my mom didn't throw out my comic book collection along with X-Men, Spiderman and JLA # 1s! Damnit...along with my baseball cards because I didn't clean up my bedroom.

  12. Many congratulations, guys. It is truly terrific news, at a time when there's not much to go around. Good work.

  13. So, nice win against a tough pitcher.

But, is there a reason why so many of our hitters seem to be going backwards? Stanton is back to Scranton, Sanchez down to .188, etc.

By the by, Rufus, Jim Mason hit .152 for us back in 1975. I guess we could call it the Mason Line, but that does seem awfully close to another "line" name.

  14. So down goes Tyler Too, which puts both Tylers at Scranton.

A shame. Especially because, somehow, some way, Neil Walker survives.

  17. Hoss,

Sanchez still has a way to go to hit the 'Mason' line.

Way back when in the 80's, I worked for the DoD. Official policy for air conditioning referred to the Mason-Dixon line -- if you were south of it, you got AC installed in your offices. North of it you were SOL. Not coincidentally, DC is juuuuussst south of the Mason-Dixon line.

There was one caveat, if the inside temp went above 94 (or maybe it was 96) everyone got sent home. Unless of course, you were an 'essential' employee. Then you got to sweat.

  18. The comics look like they're going to be great. Congrats, gentlemen!

Hicks does have a good eye. It's the other eye that's a problem.
