DRUNK BLOG (CONTINUED) Sonny Gray has reached the point where...

... if he has a good outing, we should bundle him in bubble wrap and trade his sorry butt to San Diego in time for the ComicCon.

Of course, the Yankees never trade a guy after a good day. Nope. Other teams wait until a pitcher throws a six-inning shutout, then trade his ass before everybody realizes that it merely lowered his ERA to 5.90. But if a Yankee pitches well, it's understood that he has finally found himself, that all is well, and he cannot be traded.

  1. This is what the Yankees should have been doing to these tomato cans all season.

  2. I don't know anything anymore. I don't know what to believe. I don't know what to trust. It was so much easier when I was a young stunning piece of ass before I understood advanced metrics. What an I seeing!? What is happening!?!?

  3. Sasha is teasing us.

At least it might prevent unloading the farm system.

Don't expect this in the fall though. Back to 5+ ERA.

  4. I turned on the Master just after Tyler Wade's HR call. BLP has a grand slam, Wade a HR and Sonny is throwing a 1 hitter. It's official boys, I'm a jinx. I won't listen for the rest of the season.

  11. Could it be?? Our baby Bird is fluttering out of the nest, a few branches at a time???

    This could be huge!

Expect Sonny to regress completely in his next start.

  12. I hope—pray!—that our "serious offer" to Baltimore is just driving up the price for the Red Sox.

But WTF is wrong with a team like the Dodgers??? You came within a game of winning the Series last year, and you play in a big market. Take this pain-in-the-ass out of our division already, and get on with it!

  13. Duque drank himself sober. He's dead-on about moving him ASAP.

Too bad they won't. Get ready for Manny-Time.

I can hear the Master's call now: "OH MANNY, OH MANNY, ANOTHER SLAMMY IN THE FANNY"

  14. True confession: I find the idea of obtaining Manny Machado NOW (sted of later for $$$) incredibly depressing.

1 - what do you do with Didi? He hits left. Hicks is a switcher, but his numbers from the left side are off (batting .249). Sure, Neil Walker is a switcher. And Bird bats left, but -- for how long b4 he steps in a hole? If you can't find a place to play Didi (and you can't).......you've got a pronounced weakness against LH pitching. Don't you?

2 -- I've watched more than a few Bawlmer games this year. Machado's performance at SS is spotty. He's done some wrong things. At times, his head does not appear to be attached. However, he's made it really clear that he's gonna play SS. This, by the way, might be a case against paying the guy the $$$ even if NYYs don't trade for him now. Isn't it?

3 -- Machado can't pitch. Boone made a horrible mistake in the Sabathia game a few days ago (just letting the old guy out for the 6th inning at all, much less keeping him in). If Boone is gonna manage like that, you need a lot more pitchers.....don't you?

  15. Before you get excited about Gray and Bird...there's an American League rule that says you can't play 162 games vs. Baltimore in a season. You can look it up.
